Clearing out the division and defending the titles numerous times>winning one great fight, ducking Lewis then retiring after getting two brutal beatings from Andrew Golota.

Dominance my ass. Lewis never had wins over fighters as good as Moorer, Bowe, Foreman, and a younger version of Tyson.

And an older Holy nearly beat Lewis the 2nd time around so a prime for prime matchup would be up for grabs.

Holyfield- He only has those losses cause he consistantly fought tougher opposition than all of them,, He was already fading when he fought Lewis and still gave him all he wanted in the 2nd fight... That tells me he would have beat Lewis had this been a couple years earlier.

Tyson-- HE was the most dominant of all these guys in his prime... Everyone knows Tyson wasnt the same when he fought Lewis and Holyfield.. That being said though i think Holyfield heven has a prime Tysons number.. I think prime Tyson would have knocked out Lewis... Also Tyson was never KTFOD twice in his prime like Lewis was.

Lewis--- I think hes a llittle overrated on ESB... DOnt get me wrong on his best day he is one of the greatest heavys hth.... But i never liked his chin and even though he revenged his losses he was KTFOD twice in his prime.... IMO his wins over Lewis and Tyson arent as big as many make them out to be.. Both those guys had seen better days.

Bowe- Actually i think Bowe at his best might beat Lewis...If he could shake the Olympic ko loss... Eddie Futch really lit a fire under his ass and made him a good champion... Like Lewis in HTH matchups hes hell for any past great heavys, but his prime was too short and although his triology with Holyfield was the best of that Hw era .. He faded away to fast.

During Tyson's real time when he was prime none of those guys was fighting prime. Tim Witherspoon was the best guy when Tyson was prime. But Mike never fought him. It would have been a great fight. Mike would have probably edged it. What a tough fight that would have been for Mike.

THe reason they never fought was because when Tyson won that title,, Witherspoon was kod by Bonecrusher in 1 one round around that time... Witherspoon when into a slump and was fighting periodically or not against the top contenders.. Would have been a tough test for Mike though,, SMith blew him out but other than that Witherspoon always showed a good chin.

Yeah I remember that fight with Smith. Controversy. Mike was greater, but Witherspoon at his best would have been rough for Mike. He thought he was the toughest guy in Mike's time which Mike never fought. Much stronger than guys like Tucker or Biggs.

Excellent post. The only thing I can disagree with here is that I'm not so sure Holy will always have Tyson's number. in '91 the fight can go either way, with Holyfield's superb workrate and Mike being more of a headhunter. Maybe Holy has the slight advantage. But prime for prime Tyson's workrate is just as good, more power, and Rooney conducts some kind of a gameplan to work the body. DAMN I wish they fought back then!
