A thing to consider is that Bowe and Newman had NO CHOICE but to "agree" to fight the winner of Lewis-Ruddock. Otherwise they wouldn't have gotten the shot at Holyfield. And that wasn't even the doing of Holyfield's promoters.
    We know who it was....
Don King and Jose Sulaiman bullied that deal into the other parties. They tried to get Holyfield stripped of the WBC title even before this !
Holyfield wanted to remain undisputed champion, so this gave King his leverage to try to squeeze himself back in charge of the division. But the only top fighter he had was Ruddock. He had the WBC in his pocket.
And Lewis ended up being his indirect pawn too.

And yet he did make offers to Lewis and Maloney throughout 1993.
Offers that exceeded the price Maloney had put on the match, but Maloney turned them down.
Of course, the truth is, once Lewis had been bestowed with the WBC title he no longer had the freedom to fight Bowe. Don King effectively had a slice of him.
And then of course a fight with Frank Bruno was a clear and sensible course of action, so Bowe was no more a priority for them than Lewis was for Bowe/Newman.

Long haul? He didnt make it a week. He called his wife, the mother of his kids, ugly at a press conference. He kidnapped his kids. He was a real gem of a human being.

I'm guessing the few who gave 'apollack' a pat on the back for his long-winded post bothered to read the entire post, or the part where he attempts to claim Bowe had an "excellent resume" post-Holyfield ll.
