It didnt even have time to fizzle out.

    It was nothing here.

    It was nothing.

People barely cared. Some were annoyed, but we've heard worse insults.

The whole rant was lame and third grade level.

If anything, I think the Fil-Americans in the states were the ones who were really vocal.

IMO, 3 to 6 months revocation of his boxing license will do, enough to teach Floyd a lesson.

Filipinos arent even the "yellow" ones.

The orientals (China, Japan, Korea, etc.) are the ones who were used to be called "yellow".

We're brown out here, 90% of us.

Good. I can respect people like that. My Filipino friend laughed at both the Carolla and Mayweather situation and didn't take offense at all because he understands how certain traditions work. It wasn't a nice thing to say but it wasn't way out of line either. If I had been in Floyd's shoes and I offended someone, I would absolutely apologize. However I would not regret making such comment because under the circumstances I'm in, things like that are common and are allowed. I mean if we are to punish Mayweather then Hopkins, Mayorga, and Arum should be thrown in the pit as well.

I had thought Floyd said, "Young Chump" rather than "Yellow Chump." Who knows what he said exactly. But if he did refer to yellow, I really don't see anything outlandish about that because it's just a label or a way to identify a certain group. Asians as a whole are widely considered to be yellow. Sure, we can get technical about it but that's unnecessary. It'd be like saying blacks aren't actually black but rather dark brown. And whites are actually pink.

you might not see it as outlandish, but think what would happen if Gatti, before his fight with Floyd, said "I'm gonna whop that black chump, then make him cook me some fried chicken and watermelon"

The outrage that would have followed form the leaders of the black community would have been intense

    *and right fully so*

and yet again you dodge the question

    A. why are the pacfans so adamant about this, when people on pac's team, his boss...have said equally if not far worse racist and homophobic comments?

    B. why are pictures of floyd as a chicken (racial whether you like it or not) and with big lips (again racial) or with photo shopped gay images ok?

please respond, especially to point A, with an actual answer, and not another question and/or deflection

I think the point the thread starter was trying to make, was that if the shoe was on the other foot, the Jacksons and the Shaprtons would be up in arms about it. But they stay quite when a black person makes racially insensitive remarks, showing they don't' really care if your racist, they just care if you don't like black people

    Not being technical.

Filipinos were never called "yellow" during any time in our history.

We were called "Indios" (Indians) during the Spanish period.

We were called "Little brown brothers" during the American period, turn of the 20th century.

We are separate from the continental asia, where a lot of the people were called "yellow" by other races.

Filipinos are more closely related to Indonesians, Malaysians, and Pacific islanders.

We've always been the darker skinned far easterners.

    Not fair skinned and "yellow".

Rightfully so? I really get annoyed when black folks throw out the racist card for every trivial incident. Anything you say can be twisted into racism. It's ridiculous.

Think really hard about what you just pointed out. Forget what society wants you to think. Form your own thought process. In doing so, ask yourself the question: "Is it actually a racist remark?"

How is pointing out the slaughtering of cats and dogs or fried chicken or watermelon linked to hatred or oppression? There is none! Mentioning cotton picking would be crossing the line because it does involve oppression, human suffering, and pain whereas something as petty as fried chicken is just part of someone's culture.

Yes, but you guys are still Asians and sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between a Filipino and, say for example, a Chinese person. If you want to be labeled as something else that's fine. But don't be offended if someone refers to you as a yellow person because that's the general way of labeling the Asian group. Heck, if I saw Manny Pacquiao walking down the street for the first time I could easily mistake him for a Vietnamese person which can also be categorized as a yellow person. I don't mean for it to come off as an offense. Just an observation. If he wants to be called brown then I would stand corrected and concede. Not all Filipinos are dark or look like the typical Islander.

I will agree with you on what is posted above. I guess my point has/was lost in type. I do find it to be bull**** when any group uses trivial things to highlight slander against their color, race, nationality, ect.

But the fact remains that it does happen. And the fact remains that people have become hyper sensitive to even the smallest of things.

That being said, whats good for the goose is good for the gander. The "rightfully so" comment was because if I would like to see an outcry because a black person said these remarks, I would expect the same if someone said something towards a black person.

My point here this a.m. is not to call to fore front that Floyd is a racist, but to show, that if this racially insensitive event was directed towards a black person, the publicity and the outcry of racism would be far stronger then what we are seeing.

I actually see his rant as an adolescent outcry for attention. he's an individual that has created a reality in which he is god like, and now he is beginning to see thats he's not and so lashes out. He has surrounded himself with "yes" men and people that just like his money and fame.

That's why I can't get offended when someone calls Filipinos "yellow".

It just does not register on my "mangina meter" and get me all upset and teary eyed.

We're almost like the Latinos or the blacks of asia, so the "insult" just does not stick.

We kinda stick out like a sore thumb out here.

Very western influenced, also Spanish influenced, but still asian.

It's called stereotyping and it effects peoples perceptions of large groups of people. Things like certain races having genetic predispositions to certain diseases would not be 'racist'...Things like, 'you're black so you must love watermelon and collard greens' are meant to be devisive and oppressive...And these type of slurs have been used extensively to further the causes of racists...Ask a pre-hitler Jew if they minded the stereotype of being good with money...
