no, im hoping someone like naz or shields steps in.

james will never be an all-time great but he can easily win a title at 154 as everyone there has flaws.

I think he has to stay with Golden Boy until October 2013 or somewhere around there. After that he's a free man from his contract extension. He was supposed to be with them for another 2 extra years or something like that. No word on trainers.

Upon his return with 50.. He needs someone like Virgil Hunter, Nazim, or Shields to get his Defense sorted out.. The will help him hide that Glass Jaw he has.. He could afford to be in a Virgil Hunter or Nazim Camp.. thier stable of fighters/ Sparring mates would be quality...

I dont know if kirklands chin is glass.

although Molina is not a big puncher he took everything carlos could dish out an kept coming.

took prime angulos best and dug down deep to ko Alfred.

this guy is not only a proven ko artist but has proven heart as well.

you would have to be a fool to bet against james Kirkland because of one bad fight.

His chin is not glass but twice it has been put on notice.. he won one against Angulo (sick win!) and lost to ishida (awful loss) both times that chin was tapped... that weakness has to be protected so he fight to not to get hit so much.. I love James and will not bet against him.. I saw him live in my hometown San Jose against The love child so I have witness first hand the damage James can do..

but what about putting him in with the Wbo champ Stieglitz from? James could capture a belt and be right back into the big fight mix.

I've always been a fan of Kirkland. He's never going to be a pfp type of guy but his fights are entertaining and you know someone is probably gettting ko'ed every time he fights.

He's only 29 so theres plenty of time for him to still have more success but he always seems to be in some sort of trouble so who knows what he does from here on out.

maybe if he signs with fifty he'll get a quick bout and learn the art of selling out a friend or ratting out a competitor....:think

I was wondering the same thing. The last I saw him he was KO Angullo.

are you insinuating that there was wrongdoing on the part of james Kirkland regarding golden boy promotions?

because a judge recently voided a contract between the two in favor of kikrland and generally speaking when something like this happens there is fraud, gross negligence or malicious intent found against the other party. this all came to fruition right around the time of gbp trying to make a canelo/Kirkland fight when james was not ready after shoulder surgery.

imo, gbp is scum and james wanted nothing to do with them.

check out erislandry lara recently jumping ship to haymon.

I believe Kirkland's chin is a lot better than people think. It seems like he starts out cold and as the fight goes on and his energy level picks up his chin gets above average. Vera and Joel Julio couldn't hurt him as their fight went on. Even the Ishida loss was three knock downs, he was wobbly but could've continued. He recovered after being badly hurt by Angulo, a guy with a glass chin would not have recovered. Further more, watch some of his sparring sessions with LHW's and you'll see he can take a hard shot.

Unfortunately this guys biggest asset is his high energy/aggression which is a product of Anne Wolfe's torturous camps. He floundered under Kenny Adams, and his too old to be changing his styles. Not sure who he's going to get that'll push him like Anne did. He's a headcase and needs hard discipline.
