The improvement we saw in Taylor between the 2 Pavlik fights was very impressive, and he did it from one fight to the very next. I'll give an arbitrary number for the sake of discussion. Let's call it 20%. If Jermain were to improve another 20% over the course of fighting a couple of "B" level guys, he can become a serious force at 168. Given the recent announcement that Pavlik will move up next year, are we headed for Pavlik/Taylor III late next year?

Tommy Hearns is to Jermaine Taylor as Iran Barkley is to Kelly Pavlik.

There's no need for a third fight...sometimes someone just has your #. The fact that Taylor had pretty much a perfect fight against Pavlik the second time around and couldn't win says it all.

 

Let him be the man just had 2 grueling fights with Pavlik maybe he needs a nice rest.

 

I understand what you're saying, but I really think that at some point they will meet again at 168. It could very well turn out to be a case of seeing who the dominate guy is in that division. With Slappy Joe out of the picture the only real threat to either would be Kessler and one another.

 

He's still quite young and outside of Pavlik I dont think MW division is particularly competitive so he's still got time to offer more at that weight

 

168 is a deep division so Taylor will have plenty of options there. I think he will rise to the top of that division as well. Only Kessler and maybe/maybe not Bute would be favored over him. Taylor-Miranda is one of the best fights that can be made in boxing. Even if it were to happen at supermidleweight I don't want to see a third fight with Pavlik. I'm looking foward to his return though.

 

Well Taylor got it the first fight. The score cards were a joke. Lowe told Pavlik it was dead even going into 11. I think many people saw it that way. Personally, I think the 10 point must, must go. If the second fight continued to 'last man standing' it would have been Pavlik. In Pride, the fight was scored as a whole and credit was given for attempts to 'finish' the fight. Under Pride rules Hopkins would have been yellow carded 3 times and lost 30% of his purse and been DQ'd for stalling. :yep

 

I think taylor is going to do big things coming up. I honestly think he won the 2nd pavlik fight. With him leaving emauel steward he can only improve. Steward was a henerence to him.
