Cotto doesn't usually break down mentally b/c he's always winning or compeitive....but he did break down with Marg and that's what I think might take place after 6 or 7 rounds with Josh.
people are making the mistake of thinking cotto is fighting margo again. clottey ain't the same kind of fighter margarito is. it took 11 rounds of shelling to put cotto on his knee against margarito. do you guys really think clottey is going to be able to do the same??? unless he somehow manages to catch cotto perfectly there is no way in hell clottey is going to knock him out.
he didn't break down mentally, he broke down physically from never clinching and simply taking waaayyyyy too much punishment at the hands of a fighter throwing 100+ punches a round.
But you fail to mentioned that Cotto had to low blow Judah twice while Clottey handled Judah with ease...(I'm only using Judah since you're the one who brought him up:good) Since you want to bring up the Clottey fight...Why didnt you mention that he took Zab punches well without being fazed..Can we say the same for Cotto since he had to place to well-placed shots to the nuts to secure him some valuable time. We'll see come Saturday night...You're going to be one mad dude once Clottey shows up. Bet on that!:good
Being the better fighter on paper doesnt always gives you the path to vicotry...So thats really a moot point.
I think so too. Josh is very underrated by most....not just casual fans but hardcore fans as well. This should be a very compeitive fight for the first half....I think Cotto will box well, be more active and controling the pace but I doubt he'll land much of anything flush or meaningful with Clotts "D". Cotto will have to get to the body in order to ensure Josh can't start taking control late and pull out the "W". That's why I don't think Miguel will win. I think Josh will take away the body attack of Cotto and Josh will be fresher, stronger and BIGGER towards the last half of the fight.
I dont think that no one is comparing Clottey to Margorito but Margorito did lay a blue print on how to beat Cotto...You do know that fighters do watch film on their opponents to come up with a fight plan...Clottey is a student of the game so I'm willing to bet my house that Clottey has keyed in on Cotto weakness and is putting up a gameplan around Cotto's weaknesses.
Clottey may take a hell of a shot and that much acumulation... Actually he proved it against both Margarito and Judah but I just want to make it clear that Clottey just proved that he was able to overcome that much of an obstacle against the shot Judah we all knew he was... Come, come, nobody really will bet his house on the gutsy guy just cause he vacated his bell to run after Cotto's WBO version.
Cotto was also the better boxer with Marg....Cotto had more demensions, skills and tools yet he failed.....Cotto put up a great effort but ultimately I think the size and style along with sheer size made it a difficult task. I see the same things in this fight for Cotto.
Lol! Bunch of mofos leaving their nutz to hang with these silly ass predictions. Gotta love this **** Eh is it just me that creates this image of some dude in a black bowtie selling beans pies whenever I see Rudyard post??
regardless of whether clottey knows how to beat cotto now, i really don't think he has what it takes to do what margarito did and employ that kind of style. he's just not that type of fighter. bet your house that cotto has also watched plenty of video and knows exactly what clottey's weaknesses are as well. :thumbsup
Good post. Also to add...If Cotto does try to go to the body he'll leave his face open for a hard counter...We all know Clottey is a good counter puncher...I'm liking Clottey myself due to his durability...IMO thats going to be the key factor is this match up...Whoever can take the most punishment while pressing the action will take this....I think thats were Clottey will prevail.
I almost got dizzy when I got to understand that you were actually thinking about the Judah of the Cotto fight and the Judah of the Clottey fight as the same fighter... Sure Cotto went right there to the nuts for those reasons and Clottey took everything until a punch opened that gash over Zab's eye, but that only proves that Clottey takes it better than Cotto ( which I already knew since he took it from Margo and Baldo)... Not that Clottey will take it from Cotto without blinking... Man, we all saw Cotto knocking down Gomez with a jab, going tit 4 tat with Shane and Cotto actually busted Zab up, he didn't just open a cut on him.
