I can't stand the guy. But I don't recall him getting a major belt because of a sanctioning body's corruption, or garnering massive hype simply because of his last name. I don't remember him having a little **** party with half a dozen of his buddies in the dressing room when he's supposed to be taking a drug test. Basically I don't remember him being given a bunch of **** that he didn't earn. But **** the guy for being a cheat.
It hurts to say it... But I bet there are a lot more currently, and greats from the past that were just never caught... Harsh reality in all sports, boxing especially. Tarver seemed like a clean guy to me, after getting off crack, chasing his dream of beating Roy... I guess he used PED's to accomplish that.. The same can be said of Roy as well... He did fail the one test... And the fighter he was fighting had twice the **** in his system... I honestly think it is everywhere, and has been for some time... We would probably all cringe if we knew all that has used...
After his positive test, I lumped him in the category of other known PED cheats. That said, 70% of boxers at the very least, in my opinion, are on PED's.
Tarver is a cheating scum,he doesn't deserve hate,he's on ignore list.beside,he lost to Kayode, why hate on a bum?
Tarver is kind of a douchebag, but at least he has beat some good fighters. The only good fighter Chavez jr. has fought handled him for 11 rounds like it wasn't no thing. Though that 12th round was pretty ****ing crazy.
There's plenty of hate for Tarver. He's received abuse, lost his Showtime job despite being an excellent commentator, his career as a fighter is effectively over and his entire legacy has been called into question. What I don't understand is why some posters struggle to understand the dislike of Chavez Jr. The kid represents everything that is wrong with boxing today.
Tarver is a CW and irrelevant, at this point. Serious question: Do you ever make threads not involving Jr in some way?
His career was never as high profile as Jr.s. Even when he beat RJJ and was king of the world, that was before 24 hour sports coverage, twitter, and boxing web sites. Then, when he finally go popped, his career was so far down the trail he was essentially meaningless. I, for one, was very disappointed when he tested positive. His KO of RJJ was a huge moment in boxing history and I have met him once and found him to be a really good guy; or so I thought.
Clean when you become a machine at like 38, sounds awfully like someone else thats dominating now:think
Where have you been? Everyone hates Tarver on here. He killed the myth of our hero Roy Jones. The only thing keeping him relevant is his hot wife.
