my father was a mediocre welter weight. so was my grandpa. so was i. i want to pass a love of this sport on to the next generation. i loved it enough to go and get knocked out by a lefty in front of my family and friends (he could never do that if he wasn't bigger, faster, stronger, smarter and all around better then me! i want a rematch!!) so today, what do we do to sell this sport to the younger fans? a hard fact for me to face was that mma is better marketed, better organized and better regulated then the sport i was genetically programed to love. fans, when is the last fight that excited you so you couldn't wait to see it that didn't disapoint you on some level? could be the score, one of the fighters missing weight or being out of shape, the ref or the result, but it's is killing me. matchups in mma are always competitive. there are no hopeless ham and eggers like the new pro's fresh off the olympics feed on. the sactioning bodys are hopeless, and do nothing to help the sport the real rankings are found in the press!! espn always follows the ring ratings and the wba didn't follow up it's own investigation, into it's own officials about one of (god help us) it's two heavyweight champions!! how do i explain that to a young kid interested in boxing!! i love this sport and i will never stop. and there are always fights that are gems. thank you juan diaz and juan manuel maquez. you keep me in the game. chris.
