He sucks, his prime was one fight where he actually looked good.

    Ouch.

We don't know what he could have done, there was potential for sure.

Kenny Weldon said after he won the WBO belt he became lazy and would not listen to him or train hard.

He was always a gatekeeper, and so was Brewster. People overrate the hell out of Brewster based on his one lucky win against Wlad where Wlad ran out of gas more than Brester beat him. Who the hell else has he ever beaten? Shot Golota? Never-was Krasniqi? Please - the guy's another in a line of American mediocrities, and Lyakhovich always was very mediocre as well. An unskilled war doesn't make a fighter great.

Anyway, Lyakhovich looked like **** in the Briggs fight too. Briggs is an even bigger bum than Brewster, yet he barely threw any punches in a fight that should be eminently winnable by anyone who can slip and move even a tiny bit. The fact that he was completely spent by the 12th round despite never throwing any punches just shows what **** shape he was in even then.

Doesn't that weasel Ivalo whatever also manage Arreola, now? I thought I saw him in the ring after Arreola beat Walker.

Peter, Liakhovich, and I think Arreola, too.

His fight against Brewster was awesome. Easily one of the best heavyweight fights of the past few years. Sergei never looked that good before, or since. Too bad.

I'll tell you where he is, he is in Arizona. He lives in Scottsdale right now and I see him at the gym I go to occasionaly. He doesnt ever train though. He just stops in. He is in pretty poor shape right now, big gut, etc. I dont talk to him, just a hey champ. I just do my workout and then head home. Seems like no one knows who he even is at the gym.

26 fights in 10 years isnt that much. He took too many lay offs, and came in oveweight vs. Valuev. Sad to say, but it looks like Lyakhovich is one of that typical lazy heavyweights who dont train proberly and arent too interested in their job. He looked very good vs. Brewster, i thought he could be something, but well...Meehan also looked like a world beater vs. Brewster. Also Krasniqui had his best career performance vs. Brewster and outboxed him rather easy till he got knocked out. I think Brewster is an opponent you can look good against.
I dont know if the Brewster fight took so much out of him, but what puzzled me, was the fact that he got rocked with nearly every punch Briggs landed on him. Brewster had him on a knee after landing something like 15,20 powerpunches. Other than that, Lyakhovich took that bombs very well. In the Brewster fight he clearly looked like having more physical resistance.

to evaluate his punching resistance, the maurice harris ko would be something to analyse. unfortunately it's very hard to find. has anyone got this vid? but you are right, his chin looked more than ok vs. brewster, but that was the only fight where he seemed really motivated, and much less stellar against briggs.

May live in America but he's from Belarus.

Good post, right cross. If he's just hanging around, that money from his three fights will run out living in Scottsdale quicker than you think. Maybe he'll get hungry again and back in the gym.
