with the limitations people claim he has, i'd have expected bellew to have walked straight through him, people downplay cleverly, but i don't really see how bellew is seen to be on another level when he was given the fight of his life and struggled against someone so ''limited'', its hypocrisy IMO, bellew fails to engage with miranda for so many rounds and shys away from exchanges and people hail it as sweet science, clevely stands and trades and shows more versitality and hes called a bum.
I had it 7-5 Bellew, but I can see how people would scored it for Cleverly. He has got limitations, don't pretend like h hasn't, I said he's got a good engine and a solid chin, thats what got him the nod. I'll wait for your response..
Who called him a bum? Please enlighten me, he has his strengths but also a lot of weaknesses which will ultimately see him fall short at world level IMO. Bellew is a European level fighter, as is Cleverly..when they both step up in class we can determine how good they truly are.
What is too much? every boxer is different every boxer gets caught, strengths weaknessess etc You just have to accept such. He may be able to improve his defence if roach gets in there. But as ive said before Cleverlys style is based on speed and volume of punch which indirectly is part of his defence keeping opponents occupied with whats coming at them, with his style yes he`ll get caught. But as ive said who dont get caught?
I'm no fan of Cleverley but I'm no hater either. He looked great against a nobody and that's the best that can be said. It's going to be a big comedown for him when he meets a top operator.
It's not a difficult concept mate. He was fighting Shaun ****ing Hawk who repeatedly landed flush. Against higher calibre opposition it could be his undoing. I'm not disputing that he has a great engine, solid enough chin and good punch output.
Do take into account that he had to sell himself and most know that the american fans love a good dust up, but he also showed he can box and vary his attack. Maybe ive got used to Clev`s style but hopefully he can improve, but even he does he`ll still get caught.
He'll get his respect when he stops fighting domestic standard opponents for "World Titles". It really is that simple.
I don't understand this thread. Most of the criticism towards Clev is directed at his opposition rather than his performances/ability (with the odd exception). Beating up Shaun Hawk who nobody had heard of until last week is unlikely to change peoples ideas.
