Whether the punches were low or not, the stoppage was unjustified.

The low blows, the bizarre stoppage - it all just leaves a bad taste.

It's a shame as Ward in some ways was robbed of a more conclusive ending.

    Weeks had a shocker here.

The problem was Sergey stopped fighting he said No Mas.

When you are seriously hurt you don't try and defend yourself and your body in a position that forces a halt to the action the ref has no choice but to stop the fight.

Kinda like how ref had no choice but to stop Lara Angulo after angulo turned his back after being hurt.

Premature stoppage? No arguments there. Would Kov have come back? I don't think so. He gassed out last fight. It would have been much tougher this time. The momentum had already swung and Kov was already turning his back, and looking to the ref for breathers.

How about a competent ref calling time and giving 5 minutes to recover from the repeated low blows.

THE REF IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW A FIGHTER TO BEND OVER IN THE CORNER AND BE BEATEN TO A PULP

THE FIGHTER CAN EASILY TAKE A KNEE GET A EIGHT COUNT AND CONTINUE

    KOVA QUIT PERIOD!

Ward landed THREE BLATANT LOW BLOWS IN A ROW. The ref was NOT supposed to stop the fight, he was SUPPOSED to give Kovalev a break. Ward legit threw three low blows in a row you can look at the replay, it's absolutely ridiculous

HARD TO GET HIT IN THE NUT SACK IN A STANDING FETAL POSITION BENT OVER. THEY WERE GOOD SHOTS RIGHT ON THE BET LINE.

DO IT FOR YOURSELF. STAND UP BEND OVER WITH YOUR ARMS TUCKED. YOU CANT GET HIT IN THE SACK.

That's the biggest problem I have as well. Even IF you think they were legal it should not have been stopped at that moment.

Since when is that the standard? Standing 8's are for amateur boxing.

Exactly. Under no circumstances is a fighter bent over not putting their hands up getting hit repeatedly going to be allowed to continue.

Yeah I guess not throwing back punches, wobbling around and then sits at the ropes looking like he's totally done doesn't count as a fair stoppage.

It honestly feels so good that all the Kova fans got their delusions krushed.

Sets a terrible precedent. If I am Canelo or Floyd I would hope Weeks isn't the referee because after seeing that last punch being OKed as legal by Weeks that is right where I would go if I am GGG or McGregor.

The last shot is clearly below the belt line and the reaction from SK says it all.
