Whether the punches were low or not, the stoppage was unjustified.

If they were low blows why didnt Kovalev react to them like low blows? A guy gets hit low and he goes down on a knee or sometimes both and immediately is rithing in agony and complaining to the ref. Kov did no such thing. He looked like a man who had nothing left. They were borderline but but legal. This is a great win for ward and propels him to #1 p4p

This isn't amateur boxing. How often do you see standing eight counts in elite level boxing?

Because the ref ignored Kovalev when he mentioned that Ward was throwing low two occasions prior to that. If Kov went down from them that would have been a knockdown so Kov was trying to just tough it out, but it's kind of hard to do that when someone is punching you in the balls as hard as they can.

I also think they were intentional because they kept happening and Ward is actually a very accurate puncher.

Ive just watched the fight again and i have INDISPUTABLE PROOF that Kov got stopped by legit body shots and is b.s. on the low blows. Im going to post the evidence very soon. Not sure if i want to do it tonight as its late. But watching the fight again its even more impressive.

just watched fight again in slow motion. One 1 low blow at end of fight. The rest of complaints are total BS, will post pictures of all body shots he complained about, they were painful but legal.

As I've said in numerous threads at this point:

Standing 8 counts are NOT ALLOWED in WBC, IBF, etc fights and American fights.

Remaining on your feet but not being able to defend yourself is the definition of a TKO.

The stoppage was not the problem.

    It was justified.

The problem was Weeks was blind to all the low blows.

Delusional really, you're the one who seems delusional. Not throwing back? Really. Watch it again, Kovalev was throwing back. The punch before the 3 low blows, was a kovalev jab, the 3 punches prior to that was a Ward combo after Kovalev threw a left hook. Kovalev threw 2 punches in the last 12 seconds, how is that not punching back. And he only sat on the ropes after Weeks wrongly stopped the fight.

Maybe if you didn't have your head so far up your ass you could actually see these blatantly obvious things. And this coming from a guy rooting for Ward. He showed great skill in this fight and I had him winning but the ending was clearly bull****. Low blow in the 7th, then another in the 8th prior to the right hand then 2-3 more low blows to finish it.

The low blows are all borderline cases imo. None look like but shots to me.

It was obvious in the first fight that Ward was hurting Kovalev to the body so I'm not surprised he kept that strategy going.

The stoppage was a bit iffy itself though, especially with the magnitude of the fight and the rep of the opponent. There wasn't even a knockdown.

That being said Kovalev wasn't defending and wasn't punching back so what can you do?

I guess when you spend a career destroying opponents you never really learn how to survive when hurt.

I don't think I third fight is warranted personally.

I'd like to see him unify against Stevenson more than anything else.

Kovalev should put his name in the CW tourney.

Try and get the HBO replay of this gif linked below too, end of 7th round kovalev cries wolf when ward barely taps him, he was already spent, exhausted he was looking for a way out, Ward hit him low, the stoppage was premature but it would not have changed nothing.

Insanley copetetive if you stagger back and throw a measly jab. THen slumps over and sits down at the ropes. Even if he would have gotten up after a count he wouldn't have been able to finnish the fight, he was done.

the finishing blows were before that, ward was just overcompensating to be double sure with his oft used dirty tactic.

The last blows of the fight were low. I do not buy into any "Kovalev already done" stuff, either. If that thinking held up, then Ward was done in Round 2 of the first fight.

Fights should not end on fouls.

no ward was clearly not gassed out in round 2, he got up and locked up kovalev.
but yes the laast 2 blows were low.

if we are being honest they often do.

I suggest you watch that in slow motion because you clearly see a low-blow by Ward during the clinch.
