Also, there's not even a remote argument for calling Rahman's a "lucky punch", since he'd thrown and landed a very similar right hand on Lewis earlier in the round.

Lewis had no defense. He just goofed around and got KO'd by a basic journeyman contender.

journeyman contender is an oxymoron, though one can become the other.

I actually think that Rahman was a much better fighter than Tua or Morison.

However if we are specifically assessing Lewis's durability, then it might detract from it less if he had been one shotted by them, simply due to their records as punchers.

I'm not specifically addressing anything on this thread, I'm just playing along .

Who do you consider an ATG? Plenty of ATG heavyweights were pretty reckless and/or sloppy defensively at times. You don't think Rahman could have landed a bomb on Marciano? Maybe the 15 inch reach advantage might help?

I don't think it's an oxymoron. Journeyman is someone who is good and solid, very competent at their craft or profession, but not outstanding.
It's original use is for a qualified craftsman but not a master craftsman.

There are plenty of journeymen contenders, especially at heavyweight, in most eras.

The term "journeyman" has somehow become devalued in boxing in recent years.
Back in the day, contenders such as Zora Folley and Eddie Machen were commonly referred to as "journeymen heavyweights."

Nowadays people often say journeyman when they mean a "durable punch bag who might even punch back occasionally."

Well, I suppose he's possibly half-great because he didn't let those two get away with it in the rematches.

They didn't get iced with one shot while smiling and goofing round, did they ?

I don't think there are many heavyweight ATGs anyway.

    I doubt it.

Holmes had phenomenal recuperative powers, no one said Lewis did.

Joe Louis was harder puncher than Mccall and Rahman but Marciano destroyed
him. Who cares Rahman's and Mccall's size ? They never were elite punchers.
McCall couldn't knock out the 45 years old Holmes and Rahman couldn't
knock out the old Berbick but these fighters destroyed the prime Lewis easily
obviously Lewis had a glass-chin every Lewis ass-licking is unimportant.

Rahman and McCall combined don't have many notable stoppages on their records, nevermind one-punch stoppages.

I mean against genuine solid opponents. Outside of Lewis.

Rahman has a TKO against Corrie Sanders, that's probably his second-best stoppage win. Not a one-punch KO.

McCall has a 10th round KO over Akinwande, that was good ... then he has a 9th-round TKO over glass-chinned Seldon, an 8th-round TKO over a washed-up Francesco Damiani, a 1st-round TKO over a novice Oleg Maskaev ..... it's not a great list.
