Yeah I remember the Billups hiccup. Bonecrusher (can't call him by his last name - too common) had been on a roll lately and positioning himself as gatekeeper. Billups surprised me more than Bigfoot (can't call him be his last name - Martin is too common) upsetting Witherspoon (can't call him Tim...).

Generally speaking ruined fighters don't go on for a decade or more, winning more fights than they lose.

might be sometimes, but often its a fighter trying to prove hes not hurt.

I didn't see much wrong with the stoppage, despite the outraged commentator.

I think Lewis was "gone". Did you notice how his corner man looked at Lennox?

The facts on Lewis are he is a very capable offensive fighter and very good boxer, I would not call him a glass chin I would say that about David Price and Richard Dunn but 2 weaknesses that are evident are 1) Lewis never stopped a man after 8 rds and he was KO'd 2X by good punchers not great or elite punchers. Some argue that the McCall fight was stopped early, I don't think Lewis could go on, shaky legs and did not respond but either way the man did not have good recuperation ability. He was not easy to catch but Rahman hurt him with the same punch 2x and I dont put the slow Rahman in an elite class of puncher

Lewis was a great offensive fighter and had great strengths in size and talant but he had a very great chance of being KO'd by any of the elite punchers if they could get to him before he got them and then there is that 15 rd distance, how do the Big men fair in that space 13-15

agreed, he should have bent the knee for 9 seconds of needed recovery to blast out McCall.

these mistakes are made often even at top level.

Therein lies the rub. Lewis had nothing to respond to. The Mexican ref just hurried towards him waving his arms to indicate the fight was over. There were no questions, no close look in the eyes the wiping of the gloves, nothing.

Personally I think the stoppage was fair, but it was no Taylor type stoppage where Steele asked Meldrick if he knew where he was, and if he was ok, before waving it off, less than 3 seconds to go or not.

It is this inconsistency that causes the problems.

Also in fairness when you say Lewis never KO'd anyone after the 8th, other than against Holy and Mercer, he was usually so comfortably in front by that time he would need to be extremely careless ( which by nature he wasn't ) to get caught and KO'd for the other guy to win.
