i think i might get **** on for this, but a puncher on the level of Barbados Joe Walcott always, always has a chance against someone his size.

I think their two fights showed that Hearns should be favourite over 12 or less and Leonard over 15 (or more). I think Tommy won the rematch, but don't think he would have lasted 15 that time either.

I agree. Hearns was looking a tad unsteady in the final round of fight number two.

henry armstrong. i know he was tiny but could ray have handled the intesity of armstrong? 15 rounds of being punched constantly in the ribs cant be good for anyone.

Luis Rodriguez could be the toughest opponent next to Robinson for Leonard to defeat, if he could. Rodroguez had all the skills, plus very strong inside. I had a thread a little while back & suprisingly most posters had Rodriguez defeating, even a prime Welterweight Duran! That is alot of respect for the Cuban Welterweight.

Good shout man, you beat me to it . I can remember that thread too. Luis at his best is IMO no less than an utter nightmare for any welter who ever lived.

I reckon that maybe Griffith, Basilio, Napoles and Gavilan could nick one from Leonard in a trilogy. Some people have mentioned Ryan, Britton, Walcott etc, but I can't really say. The time periods are too far apart to tell conclusively as far as I can tell.

    Montreal Duran and SRR aside,

Napoles, Basilio, Cuevas, Honeyghan, Gavilan, Burley, Armstrong, Griffith are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

I would favor Sugar Ray Robinson. If they had not fought I would also favor Thomas Hearns. Prehapps more so than Robinson, but the result of the first fight can't be ignored. I think Hearns was ahead when it was stopped so who knows how it would playout if they fought again right away, or who would win the most if they fought 10 times.

There are boxers that could beat Leonard. However as far as who I'd favor to beat him. In my opinion is just Robinson and Hearns.

Chuck Davey and 8-year-old SNV (who was 144-147) have a good chance. I consider both ATGs at the weight, although SNV strictly on logic.
