Jersey Joe Walcott - Curtis Hatchet Man Sheppard said he hit like a mule - thats not the first thing that people usually think about when they think about Walcott - its usually his craftiness or his age - but he was a really heavy hitter. And Jack Johnson gets a big shout for me - if he'd have really gone for it (i presume I should've said if he'd have been safe to have really gone for it I think he would've massacred everyone in about one round (before anyone starts going overboard - I don't mean literally but not far off - you know what I mean) in his prime - i think he held a huge amount in reserve - Burns and Ketchell would've been gone in a round apeice and even Jeffries I think would've been stopped early but again i think Johnson knew that there would've been serious and instant riots had he beat someone like that down in front of his own as it were
Hector Camacho - Even Iron chin Pazienza said he was very surprised at Camachos power he said Camacho hit pretty hard. I think Camacho just didnt commit to his punches to much, especially post Rosario but when he did sit down on his shots he could punch. I remember him one punching John Montes who was a top contender when they had fought. Montes ended up going all the way up to Jm and showed a good chin throughout his career. But you would have never known it the way Camacho Iced him.
Gianfranco Rosi wasnt an all time great but a solid champ at JM for a while. He was an underrated puncher his record was 62-6-1-18kos not exactly an indication of good power but check out his fights with Darrin Van horn or his brutal ko of Duane Thomas.
camacho held his head then uppercut him. Camacho put a lot of guys over because he had a great offense. it all changed in rd 5 i think against Rosario and he never was an attacking fighter again. in his prime at 130, he beats 130 maywether i think. at 130 Camacho was something else under billy giles after giles, he was different.:rasta
Gotta be Gavilan. Mainly by those who haven't watched him though. They look at his career tally and say 'feather fist', which is utter nonsense. Holyfield too. Not massively heavy handed but so precise, he could stun and deter decent chins and regardless f how fat the guy was, dropped Doiglas with one punch and badly shook him up, keeping him down for some time.
Jack Johnson Marvellous Marvin Hagler Evander Holyfield Marco Antonio Barrera Pernell Whitaker Jersey Joe Walcott Muhammad Ali
They wouldn't say that if they'd seen Walcott - Charles III. Sweet Pea is the first guy I thought of. He got excellent leverage on every punch he threw, especially that sweeping left hook to the body. Terribly underrated puncher.
