And if he retired today, where would you rate him at the weightclasses he fought at?

He possibly matches up well with HEnry Armstrong. Armstrong comes to Mosley and Mosleys bigger (160 on fight night compares to 134 for HA), stronger, quicker and more powerful

HEs hard to rate at lightweight, weak opposition at 135, looked good and had some excellent wins above the weight (which improves his 135 credentials).

That's true, he would have a significant size advantage over Armstrong. I think he would match well with Julio Cesar Chavez, too.

I fancy Chavez in a close 1 there, but Mosleys size would be a factor (Mosley was always really a welter fighting as a lightweight)

Chavez fought at his fight weight, Mosley took advantage of day prior weigh ins to weigh unofficially 155-160 in some lightweight fights.

i reckon he would of beat jose luis castillo at lighweight. i reckon he would of beat mayweather at lightweight and welterweight (the ssm of 98 tom 2000 i mean not of 2007)

he could of beat duran at welter. could of beat benitez (would of been really close). Tito is another i fancy him against.

mosley had a similar style to pryor. He would have a good chance against arguello

i would favour mosley over gavilo is well (would be a sure classic though)

this may surprise some, but i reckon he could of beat sugar ray leonard. I would favour leonard, but the speed of mosley could surprise srl.

hearns would be too much. mosley could of beat cuevas. i also favour him over don curry

Why? Mosley wouldn't smother Chavez's offence with a high workrate like Taylor, Mosley focused on what his father and trainer called 'power boxing'. Basically throwing every shot with full force and maximum power. Against a fighter with Chavez's ability to slip punches and his excellent chin he would be in a world of trouble. And resorting to slugging it out certainly wouldn't work.

id give him a shot vs just about anyone. robinson would beat him, so would leonard.

but i would pick him to beat jose napoles. henry armstrong would be too small. trinidad would be too one paced. and he already proved he could beat oscar.

yeah, mosley is a special talent.

Mosley was pretty much this era's version of an Aaron Pryor.

I would pick him to receive a first class boxing lesson against Napoles. Not a chance in hell outside of a cuts stoppage that he wins, and that needs to stop being such a prominent method of choosing a fighter over Napoles in fantasy matchups.

I don't see Mosley as being that similar to Pryor and Taylor.

Pryor and Taylor relied more on volume. Taylor had good boxing skills and movement when he used them, he also had very quick combos and flurries on the inside. Pryor attacked a lot and had a windmill style, and could box on the move, as he did versus Arguello.

Mosley was less volume-oriented and threw more of his shots with bad intentions. He pawed with his jab, but his other shots, it was like he wanted to end the fight with each punch. He loaded up a lot.

I have, but I don't recall him being a high volume puncher at any stage in his career. Against Chavez for example, Taylor flurried every time Chavez tried to mount an offence, because of this he threw upwards of 100 punches around and in turn nullified Chavez's offence. Chavez only had success with his individual shots at the beginning and end of flurries, in the end those shots accumulated.

Mosley wouldn't fight like that against Chavez, and I don't think he ever fought like that. He threw combinations but not flurries (which were effective against Chavez). In my opinion he loses.

    I agree with this statement.

I'm not about to say Tommy Hearns was too much, though. With Mosley's granite chin, I think he would at least make a decent match out of it, if not win.
