I just threw myself out of the bedroom window, went in the kitchen and asked my mother what I looked like. She replied 'Like you've gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson'

There's my answer oh and Clay of course.

You got to give it up for Johnson as a fighter, but he had a chance to do what Joe Louis did 30 years sooner, or what Jackie Robinson did in baseball 40 but years sooner.

Louis was able to, like it or not, be popular with both blacks and whites because he was a humble, classy guy and undeniably dominant in the sport.

He was the first black mega-celebrities in the US. When he was fighting, entire neighborhoods stopped and sat by the radio to listen. It was the biggest thing happening in the entire city.

Of course the government shafted Louis and he became a tragic figure, but he still made giant progress in US race issues.

Johnson could have done the same thing, for the greater good of the sport as well as civil rights, if he had been more concerned about making a difference and less concerned about snubbing his nose at racism.

Thanks. I didn't expect anyone to give that post a notice, since most around here were born after Tyson was champion and consider Ali to be "Old School".

Ali is number one due to what he helped do in the African American community.
Tyson is number 2 as he was the bad boy along with having iconic games named after him like Mike Tysons Punch out.
DLH would have to be 3rd.

    Ali or Tyson.

People need to can it with Pacquiao, De La Hoya, or anybody else. Tyson's PPV numbers are insane compared to anyone else.

    #1 Ali
    #2 Tyson

    #3 Marciano

    #4 Johnson

#5 Tie between Sugar Ray Lenoard and Oscar.

If we're talking buzz, we have to look at people who don't know the first thing about boxing, or who are not that person's race or nationality, so he isn't just some hometown hero. These fighters transcended race, national origin and even time periods.

    Ali
Tyson a good 2nd, and then a whole lotta nothing.

I was too young to really have a clear view on the Ali era, I was 7 when his shell got wasted by Holmes, but history says enough in this case.

The Tyson of course I did live through and it was something else. Even my grandmother knew who Tyson was, and everytime a Tyson fight was near the speculations about wich round he would KO his poor opponent was all around.
People who didn't even like boxing were part of the discussion.
    Good times, good times :yep
