That's an excellent point, grh. Maybe when thinking of the best footwork, people are too focused on defensive footwork.

I do agree with you i said ALi and Jones but lot of their great footwork was cause of there extraordinary speed. The guys you mentioned above were good shouts, also Canizales. Manny has improved his too and its been looking excellent lately although i know in the past he had been a little sloppy with it . I like Billy Conns footwork. And one guy who we dont have footage of but supposedly had good footwork is James J Corbett.

I like having Manny in this conversation. Good call. Honorable mention, at the least.

Well, think about it, my man. Valuev is the greatest heavyweight of all time, and since Kameda was supposed to be the greatest flyweight of all time and Pong beat him past his own best and when Kameda was in his prime...You've got to give it up for the big bad man and the little bad man. They put the A in ATG...and the T and G.

    great lists and great names.

as far as i've seen this is my list

    Pep (beautiful allways)
    Ali (amazing footwork)
Hopkins (brilliant use of his feet)
Jersey Joe (fake one way, go the other, amazing)
Ray Robinson (smooth and could get ko's while moving backwards, not easy at all)
Benny Leonard (great pivots, great at using opponents momentum against them)
Charlie Burley (amazing feet, balanced, nothing unnessacary, very tricky with his feet, allways putting himself in position to time ghis opponent)
Mayweather Jr. (great balance, conserves energy but uses feet to evade when he has to)

    Possibly Casamayor and Macho Camacho
