I always wondered if Clinton Mitchell walks around his neighborhood all day ttelling people about how he whooped Hopkins' ass.
can't find anything better than the ones listed, but the WORST pro debuts are both Marquez brothers, followed by Hopkins. Who the hell made these matches for the Marquez guys? Juan got disqualified, Rafael got Koed fighting a guy who had like 55 fights in his first fight. Too much experience too soon.
Two former muay-thai champions had pretty impressive debuts. The most impressive was Samart Payakaroom, who defeated former WBC light flyweight king Netroi Sor Vorasingh in his first pro boxing match. Also, Saensak Muangsaurin defeated a tough Filopino fringe contender Rudy Barro (who had decisioned a highly ranked and undefeated Jimmy Heair two fights earlier) in a single round during his professional debut.
Roberto Duran also has what turned out to be a pretty respectable name on his resume. He decisioned Carlos Mendoza, who would go on to fight Wilfredo Gomez for the WBC junior featherweight titlle. Mendoza actually was able bust up Gomez a bit and gave him a pretty good account of himself before Bazooka scored a tenth round stoppage... So with that in mind, it's a pretty notable debut for Manos de Piedra.
wow I knew Clinton mitchell was nards 1st fight I didnt know it was mitchells. Mitchell on boxrec only fought 4 fights with 3 opponents and one win is b hop LOL
I was just screwing around on Box Rec, looking at debut fights, and I noticed this guy named Eric Benito Tzand. This guy had one fight in 1997, and did not fight again until 2000. In 2000-2001 he fought 7 times. During that 7 fight stretch he got knocked out by Pavlik, shut out by Mora, and knocked out by Andrade! No ****ing wonder the poor kid only had 8 fights!
