Which boxer has the most losses in title fights?

Bruno had a few , but not as many as E Holyfield ...

 

Jersey Joe had more than Bruno.,Walcott had six. He didn't win the belt till his fifth attempt.

 

How title are we getting here?

I believe Morris Grant lost to Charles Hadley some nine times or so for the Police Gazette colored title, but I'm not sure atm they were all title fights.

I'm not sure exactly what Evander got to but Bill Gretting has four losses to Pipes, one to Taylor, and two to Broughton.

That's it for me. Nothing Queensberry and nothing for sure, but maybe these two oldens.

 

Interestingly, Holmes lost his last 5 title fights. You could call it 6 if you choose to include the minor belt Neilsen held.

Betulio Gonzalez lost 8 world title fights.
Tony Canzoneri lost 9 world title fights.

... but I believe the "winner" of this category must me Manuel Medina, with 11 losses in world title bouts.

Medina is a character ,I was only reading about him yesterday. A amazing guy who never gave up trying but true to say had all those losses .

I just checked boxrec and only counted 10 for him. Half of those are against Jack Britton too. They just kept trading the welterweight title.

I was just trying to think who had the toughest row to hoe, so I looked up Juan Laporte who lost 8 title fights facing Salvador Sanchez, Eusebio Pedroza, Wilfredo Gomez, Julio Cesar Chavez, John John Molina, Azumah Nelson, Charles Murray, and Zack Padilla. Not a title fight but he also fought Kostya Tszyu. What a murderers row of fighters.
