Do you mean Ibáñez Díaz? He's the one that got screwed last night; zero chance the Kyrgyz earned that.

Erislandy Álvarez beat Sofiane Oumiha for the gold on Wednesday.

The decision in Ibáñez Díaz vs. Seiitbek Uulu (if that's what he meant) was pretty upsetting, tbf. :sisi1

I remain unconvinced... We have two politicized institutions making contrasting claims.

Neither will provide their evidence, one might have some or might not and the other almost certainly doesn't.

The olympic committees of the respective athletes seem not to want light shone on it (understandable to protect the privacy of their athletes - but equally if there's evidence they are as claimed then why hide it, especially given the controversy).

The whole thing is a bit of a mess - and, if anything, highlights the utter absurdity of watering down the female category by allowing athletes with clear chromosomal and hormonal advantages to compete for long periods (and that's known cases, as opposed to these two questionable ones).

The worst possible thing is that over permissiveness in the past could well have put these two through an entirely unnecessary and unpleasant ordeal of having their biology questioned...
Then again, if one or both does have a Y chromosome and the ability to harness the athletic advantages of testosterone through puberty and onwards, then it's a travesty that an Olympic games has been put beyond the reach of real women.

Whether there's a "winner" here, there's certainly at least a couple of losers!

Well, the WBC does want to create a transgender division.

A more worthless endeavour I can't imagine... In purely numerical terms, they simply won't have the numbers for meaningfully deep divisions to form - so it'd either be endless repeats or a truly terrible standard across each categories which won't draw at all.

There's a reason trans identified males show up in elite women's sport at exceptionally unrepresentative rates - they're at undeniable advantage over biological women, which is why even quite mediocre individuals can succeed beyond where they would otherwise at rates beyond their representation in the population as a whole.

(The question of these two reportedly isn't about trans, to be clear, and appears to be in the murkier waters of DSD even if they're not strictly XX).

I think Han Xuezhen and Teremoana Junior would make for really fun pro careers.

*Junior already had a handful of fights but against complete cans. And he didn´t seem to take it seriously at all as he was 300lbs when he last fought as a pro. So I am not that optimistic, but he would be a really good heavyweight if he tried to.

It's almost as if an arm of the Russian government were trying to spread disinformation to stir controversy and division in the West and the people who already want to get mad over this type of stuff have taken it and ran with it without doing any homework :sisi1

Equally, it's almost as if there's a contingent in the West that'll use "Russian disinformation" as a convenient soundbite to avoid many an inconvenient topic of conversation.

To be clear, I'm not convinced either way on this - my initial question was to whether the pro orgs would test the athletes, at which point we'd find out whether these claims were baseless or not.
Also, to be clear, I dislike unswerving certainty on either side of this particular argument - neither side has a proven case to fall back on, both are taking things on faith...

Both the athletes (if legit) or the IBA (if truthful in this case) have the ability to put forward far more evidence than they are - one might like to consider why.
