From the way you've written your subject, ("docu-drama") r15, sounds like you want your cake 'n eat it too. Absolute truth, compelling as RAGING BULL. Tall order.

I would like to see one on John L Sullivan i think making a bare-knuckle style movie would be interesting and good, Joe Louis would also be a good one to make.

    awesome idea.

You could do a decent Hollywood movie retrospective style like The Iron Lady, where old Quarry cant button his shirt up and then intercede it with awesome fight sequences.

It would be a proper tragedy, you'd feel something for nearly man Quarry, whereas the crappy Thatcher film, well you didnt really care about Maggie, she got what she deserved for messing with peoples lives.

An accurate L Sullivan one rather than an asskissing one would be good. An actual movie that portrayed his racism and drinking/temper problems and views would be ace, deconstructing the myth. It would be great to show what an enormous twat the man was, if you get me.

theres some Dempsey in the new season of Boardwalk Empire, which feels quite genuine in its period.

I've always had thoughts about making a Jack JOhnson one, to make a movie that conveyed an accurate charcter of the man and from that characterm the conveyance of the massive magnitude of what he acheived.

At the same time I'd love to add some fictional elements too, like Jack stopping a lynching with his bare fists or meeting Alex Haley's great grandad Chicken George lol.I'd love to have met Chicken George, he sounded so cool in Roots...sorry, I digress.

Fighters like Jack Johnson and Sam Langford are such a rich pot of psychological make-up, they must have carried a massive chip on their shoulders for all the mistreatment their parents went through and boxing must have been a fierce outlet for those feelings. You could have images of Johnsons parents working as slaves intercut between his moments of him punching out Tommy Burns and Fitzy - a cocktail of emotions that added power to his punches.

I also think a Johnson biopic could be seen as a metaphor for the massive changes that were taking place in the early 20th century.

it's got to be the cheated or nearly men.

fighters with incredible lives, facts and careers, who were just as good and better even than the alledged superstars... we've got enough regurgitation in books and magazines, we don't need films on these guys like a chart song played to death. They already are.

Unsung Hero's draw more favour, interest and passion from the general public anyway, Human Life stories for everyman!!!

I'd like to see a movie about boxing and the mob in the 50's and 60's, with the trainers, boxers, refs, promoters and other fight people being portrayed. Especially Sonny Liston, Cus D'Amato and Ray Arcel. I'll have Martin Scorsese direct.

Carlos Monzon: What people have described about his life. Plenty to talk about.

Esteban de Jesus: How he became the best contender for Duran's title... the first boxer to defeat Duran, his short reign as a champion, his jail time including the visit of Duran and then his death.

Alexis Arguello: This movie would have boxing, drugs, war, politics and then his death.
