Its gotta be Barney Ross. His whole life was like a movie script, from growing up poor, the murdered father, mobsters, boxing fame, war hero, gambling and drug addiction all the way back to redemption.

If it hasn't been said, a movie on Kasim Ouma's life would be interesting.

See the original BODY & SOUL, J, it's the thinly-veiled story of Ross.

I'd say Duran. He ticks all the boxes for a great docu-drama.

Blarney Ross would be good. Chicago, father's murder, the struggle to bring his family back together, Capone, 3 weight champion, the war years, drug addiction, rehabilitation. Great material.

Benny Lynch would be another great story. I remember seeing a tv play years ago that starred Mark McManus of Taggart fame as Lynch.

It's not the focus so much on the drama aspect, but making sure the facts are in place and it's not just some boring, sit down, interview to interview with flashes of old bits. Ali could have been very well done but they ignored lots of facts. Poor casting as well.

Raging Bull was decent but not entirely true. The Hurricane was even true to the story despite a solid effort by Denzel Washington.

Eddie Murphy's a bit too old for the lead fighting role of Sugar Ray Leonard. He could do an excellent job as the middle aged or retired Robinson and what his life was after boxing.

You never know what Hollywood can do with makeup and Eddie Murphy has the voice command skillset and tone control that a lot of comedic actors have. He can be serious too.

That would be quite good too! I'd love to see a director really pay attention to the time frame and scenery when he was champion. I'd have characters for Corbett, Jeffries, Willard and Jack Johnson too. Remember how Sullivan was a frequent guest of Jeffries' training camp before the first FOTC.

What about Delahoya? With all the stuff about womanizing and drugs, John Leguizamo could slide right into the lead. It could be a good film especially if they half-a$$ the fight scenes and the controversy surrounding his most important matches.

The hard part is determining which of Delahoya's opponents get significant lines in the movie. Definitely need solid characters for Julio Cesar Chavez, Mosely, and Felix Trinidad. I'd also have lines for Whitaker, Quartey and Mayorga. Who'd play Chuck Bodak?

Sadly, r15, with the necessity of compressing story into as near two hours as possible for a profitable film release, huge liberties must be taken with characters and timelines. The ones obsessive about every detail lose sight of making a compelling film. Ya leave the movie humming the scenery.

RAGING BULL is the SOUND OF MUSIC version of Jake's life.

There was also "****** on my back". I would just like to see something new come out for the younger fans of the sport and Ross's life though reading like fiction is actually fact, and eye catching.
