The most important thing is winning.

John Ruiz always found ways to win. Yes it was ugly, but at the end of the day he won.

Judah is a former 5 divisions world champion, he wasn't a gatekeeper prime.

Ricky Hatton. Hasn't got the best chin in the game, doesn't know how to keep his hands up and lunges in but did notoriously well at 140. Rough guy who was just a natural brawler. He didn't have the healthiest of lifestyles either. Lost to the best two boxers in the world and went downhill from there.

    Nice thread.

    In addition, I would say....

Carl Froch: Despite always being slower of foot and hand than his opponent, he;s managed to climb to the top of his division and set up shop for years. Having fought a who's who of the SMW division, his resume is what other fighters' should apsire to. He has managed to pull fights out late on numerous occasions. With his chin being his greatest asset(aside from his schnoz), he's never in a dull fight.

Paul Malignaggi: Feather fisted to the extreme. He's been in there with some very tough customers, and done well for a guy who is usually brought in for his ability NOT to be able to hurt his opponent. It takes ***** to go into fights with guys absolutely knowing you are outmuscled and outgunned every single time. Done it over several weight classes with guts and guile.

Froch - terrible defense, footwork, slow, unbalanced and still achieved a lot

    The featherweight Steve Robinson.

Robinson was working in Debenhams in 1993, had a professional record of 13-9-1 was given very short notice to fight a man called John Davison for the vacant WBO world title in Davisons backyard.

Robinson won a UD and went on to make 7 defences of the world title beating fighters like Colin McMillan, Duke McKenzie, Paul Hodkinson, Freddy Cruz before running into a fighter call Naseem Hamed.

Not bad for a man who was one day working in a department store with a somewhat part time boxing career going nowhere and a week later a world champion and to go on to reign for well over two years making 7 defences.
