You can’t try and do a direct comparison between 2 southpaws with their styles, and Joe’s fight against Kessler.

If you wanted to, you could make a case for Joe being better than Nunn and Liles. But it wouldn’t mean that they wouldn’t have been harder match ups for Roy.

 

Yeah, what about all his other fights?

Michael Nunn had great speed and a huge reach.

Joe was easy to hit in all of his fights, even against European level opposition, like Kabary Salem.

Joe was always vulnerable to right hands.

I’ve always thought really fast hands and movement troubled Archie. He had issues with Patterson, Charles and Burley who were all quick handed and Archie didn’t really have an answer for that and Jones was probably another level above that for speed. Plus Jones was happy to use his speed and movement to box to a decision without taking risks so I could see him avoiding Archies traps.

Just a theory of mine. I could be wrong too.

I tend to think Moore's uncanny counter punching in his prime gets the job done. He landed clean on Ali in mid 40s, I think Moore in his early 30s would catch Roy with something whilst down on points.

Just a theory of mine, I could be wrong too.

 

Yeah Roy had figured Griffin out before the DQ but it took him a long time and he looked human for the first time ever there. I actually had him behind at the time of the DQ. He settled all issues in the rematch though.

Liles could stylistically trouble Jones. But at 168 where Jones’ reflexes, movement and power were on point I think Frankie would be way up against it.
