Vitali got sparked out against a nobody in Kickboxing. He wasn't anywhere near K-1 level. Fact of the matter is that Boxers who were big names STILL competed in K-1 and got destroyed. Ray Mercer - Tough as old boots. Got kicked once in the head and had to quit. 'A good Boxer with the ability to check an kick and good takedown defence' would be an MMA'er, you utter fool. I train in boxing and Judo, and have dabbled in MMA, let me tell you: ALL Boxers think they are invincible. You only have ONE WAY to win a fight, thats it. What happens when you don't KO the other guy? You're f*cked, thats what.
K-1 level is a myth. K-1 Champ Badr and K-1 Champ Mark Hunt were sparked out by MMa fighters. K-1 level striking is a joke.
No high level boxer would waste time in K-1. There is a reason it died. They screwed over fighters and owe fighters millions.
Not one decent boxer ever went to K-1 in his prime. The money was less than boxing. Plenty of kick boxers washed out in boxing. But boxing fans dont need these examples to legitimize themselves.
You are an idiot, man. Truth hurts, huh? People like YOU are foolish enough to think that a Boxer, who is clueless when he can't punch, could come into another realm where punching is just one part of the game and dominate just because punching is a factor in that realm. Listen to what Hopkins said about MMA'ers - He used to call MMA a 'gay porno' (which was ironic seeing how much hugging and clinch work went on in his fights), then Eddie Alvarez trained with him (and no doubt showed him how limited Boxers really are) and then Nard was all respect for them. Boxers are the most limited 'fighters' going, but the thing that makes all the difference between them and other limited fighters is that it's a hell of a lot easier to get into the clinch/get a takedown than it is to score that KO punch.
I never said a boxer would win in MMA. I said MMA fighters have beat K-1 champions. You're looking for an argument and calling people idiots. Im not going to continue to talk to someone who cant even comprehend what the discussion is about.
Yeah NFL rejects can crack the top 10 after a few years of training, but not the Klitschkos. I got you. Like the other guy said, it seems you just want to argue and ignore the valid points we are making. If anybody is the idiot here, it's YOU. nobody is saying a pure boxer could go into MMA and do well without cross training. Most MMA fighters aren't great at any facet of fighting, most are jack of all trade types.... All a boxer would have do is work on his anti-wrestling(sprawls, scrambles) and a bit of defensive Jiu-Jitsu. A year or two of doing that and I believe an elite heavyweight could be able to cause problems for, and compete with the best heavyweights in the division. Look at JDS, he's a very mediocre boxer who doesn't have any background in wrestling, or BJJ... Yet he's good enough to negate the grappling of anybody in the division besides Cain... How many MMA fighters can come over to boxing and even have moderate success? the best strikers in MMA might be able to become mod-high level journeyman in boxing.
It's easy to say 'JDS has is a mediocre boxer etc', do you know how quick he would be on his back if either K.Bros fought him under MMA even with some grappling experience? Very quickly.
I thought he said he could knock the Klitschkos out????? Pretty sure he doesn't have a wrestling background, only been training it for a few years. Proof that a top boxer could easily do the same with the proper amount of training.
You are so far off... What would Floyd do under MMA rules? Or Wlad? Jesus, these two are scared to get into BOXING MATCHES let alone a FIGHT where nearly ANYTHING goes! The thing is is that you see a fighter dominating with just his hands (JDS) and think 'Any Boxer can do that', wrong. Do you think that guys like JDS don't know how to apply a takedown or a submission? They do train them you know. Anyway, look at what happens when Junior runs into someone who is well rounded... (the Cain trilogy).
It's pretty simple. If someone of JDS background (he was a waiter in brazil) could hack it in heavyweight boxing he would be doing it. He does not try to submit or take people down. He simply relies on his boxing to knock people out and stuff take downs. If he could sell PPV's and make millions boxing he would instead of making 60k a fight and letting the ufc take over 90 percent of the profits from his fights. Somehow you think that waiters in brazil can become champions in mma but somehow elite athletes in boxing could never cross over to any other combat sport if the money was better. The logic you're using is simply wrong with no real basis in reality.
