Merchant = The Best, funniest, most unique. Kellerman = Torture to listen to. I've actually thrown **** at the TV.
Yeah. I remember he used to be on Sky and he always tried to talk over everyone. I didn't watch the build up to Calzaghe/Kessler on setanta but I did see him on it for a couple of minutes and he still can't close the top button on his shirtatsch He tries to be this cooler than cool character and as pointed out by several people who regularly see him, he always bigs up the fighter he's beside or fighting. Then he completley changes his tune. He was a dick for Sky and he apparently hasn't changed:-( As for his columns??? The **** he sprouts is barely readable.
:good didnt micky duff ban him for years? so would i.imagine that half wit reviewing your fight cards,etc?.:-(
Don't know about being banned:think But he most certainly is a half wit. From what I remember from him on Sky, which is going back a while, he always wanted to be the antagonist to the likes of McGigan and Watt. Only he made innocent points most of the time. It was actually kinda cringing watching him.:yep
Save for Bernstein, and Farhood, I think plenty of guys on this forum are better analysts than the rest of the guys on the list. Al Bernstein is definitely one of the best around though, I'm consistently impressed with his commentary and opinions.
I agree completely. Some posters on ESB are much better at breaking down matchups and forming educated opinions. Bernstein is my favorite - he's been around forever, but he's also fair and extremely knowledgable. He's miles ahead of Merchant in terms of boxing knowledge and analyzation ability.
I think Lennox Lewis is brutal. He constantly states the obvious, regulalry loses hie train of thought and calls boxers by the wrong name - In the Pavlik/Miranda fight he repeatedly referred to Pavlik as Kelly Pelvic
Lennox Lewis is not just a horrible analyst, he's also a horrible speaker. It's funny how during the Lewis-Tyson fight, Lewis was the gentleman intellectual British fighter and Tyson was the wild thug who grew up on the streets, but Tyson is 5 times the speaker and analyst that Lewis is. His vocabulary and overall knowledge of the English language is on a higher level. I saw fights where Tyson commentated and he did a pretty good job too, far better than Lewis has ever done.. absolutely definitely. Out of those analysts, Bernstein is the best. The next one I would choose is Teddy Atlas because he says interesting things sometimes during FNF. But he's terrible at picking fights and breaking down big matchups. I love Larry Merchant, but I don't care too much about his analysis before and during a fight. His post fight analysis or poetic wrapup is my favorite thing about him. I agree that there are dozens of people on ESB that are better at analyzing boxing than most of these guys.
