Jim Watt used to annoy the tits off me, especially the way he pronounced 'comfortable.' It's only got three syllables for fluck sake!
Yes, he was only good, I thought, when interviewing guys like Chavez because he could also translate. He did a lot of fights with Bobby Czyz, who had an open hostility towards Chavez like Chavez had run over his dog. He was also a terrible commentator.
Kellerman sucks, Lampley sucks now, Ranallo sucks, when I actually think about it now there isn't really anyone today who is any good. Even Bernstein has become annoying, not quite to suckage level but still, Letterman is even more terrible than he's ever been and needs to retire. Actually the only American commentators that I can tolerate that I feel do a decent job are Steve Kim and Beto Duran. They only do very small shows like Thompson Boxing Promotions live streams or Golden Boy's untelevised undercard fights, but they're not annoying always feeling the need to speak every second of the round like most announcers now. And they aren't incredibily bias for the promoters fighters they're working for like HBO & Showtime's announcers do for their Network's fighters.
Ian darker was the last decent comentator I liked, after that no one really. Carl Froch is hilarious, to appear wordy he will use five words to some up one point "it is exciting, exhilirating, and most of all fantastic". He says so much and it means so little.
Your right Ian darke was good, he only does the football now. Bt sports should get him back on the boxing.
been a while though hasn't it, seems unlikely. I'd be interested to know why he doesn't do boxing anymore, as he was so good at it. to be stuck with guys like Adam Smith is very irritating, the guy has a weird voice, must drive his wife nuts.
