I try to be as honest as I can. Yes it can cause bias sometimes I really do my best to give as accurate portayal of what is happening. My perception skews it, as it does everyone. With a subject as subjective as boxing it is unavoidable.

Impartiality is a myth. Unless you are solely consentrating on W-L-D, or the date of the of the fight you are shutting out often massively sensible viewpoints. To talk about the fight game with any depth you have to describe what you saw. Which is often up to different interpretations.

You guys write way too intelligently for ESPN’s audience unfortunately. They would see the word maelstrom in the title and start crying realized how badly they’ve failed America’s sports fans by putting out the sewage they do day after day

We got a bunch of keyboard warriors on here who’ve never punched a clock, much less an opponent who punches back.

Done both. Trained in boxing and MMA. Got to grapple a top 10 UFC light heavyweight. Sparred a ton but never fought.

I sparred a round with Pinklon Thomas (way past prime) once. He was very kind. He didn’t kill me. But he did hit me a body shot that completely deflated me and then jacked my jaw so bad that it clicked for a few weeks after to the point that I figured it was fractured ... then the clicking went away.

I guess we should become boxing writers, haha.

Ahh right i just thought when you were having a go a fat dan, it was because you think you do a better job. He is supposed to be impartial and this is something I thought I would highlight but if its something you like to court then fair does. Nothing wrong with that as long as you do not claim to be impartial.

I for example couldnt write on Scottish Football as I too would be far too biased.

I just think in order to be a respected journalist you need to take emotion and opinions out which can be very difficult to do.

means nothing as i said you dont have to have taken part in the sport to be knowledgeable about it there are plenty of examples spread amongst all sports that back this up. People who think just because you havent been in a ring means your opinion is null and void. This is not true.

Why, exactly, would you like to punch Neal de Grasse Tyson? This should be good.

Because he's an astrophysicist and a scientist, and scientists are supposed to be open to ideas and theories, because science is never complete, its ever evolving, everything can be improved upon and tweaked, when new information presents itself, you have to take that into account and see if you can add that into the equation and form a new synthesis. But he's not interested in any of that, because he's a smug bully, and a politically motivated absolutist and ideologue.

That suggests you have some "new information" in mind which he has neglected to consider. What kind of information might this be?

No, he's just an obnoxious ass and a partisan agitator, who like everyone else who pass themselves off as scientists now days, is a belligerent know it all atheist that likes to browbeat people and insult them, and acts like he's some kind of authority on the matter, when we don't know the extent of what exists at the bottom of our oceans, much less the furthest reaches of space. Like I said, scientists are supposed to be open and willing to listen to new ideas and evidence, and he is not. And I say that as someone who's been an atheist/agnostic since I was child.
