I like Lennox Lewis and thats about it

"Jim, he needs to keeping popping that jab"

"But lennox he is popping the jab"

"I know Jim but he needs to quadruple em, 4 or 5 jabs at a time, like that"

Personally, I don't like any of the British commentators. I don't normally make sweeping statements, but in this case I will: They are all rubbish.

i'll listen to any of the ex champions or ex boxers ie watt, mckenzie and mcguigan but some of the others plainly know sod all.
reg gutteridge was the king of commentators and boxing writers and was the best of the lot with a lot of respect from the fighters

    I actually like Darke

I really dont like John Rawlings commentary at all (strange he is pretty good when on Five Live's Fighting Talk) and he would have to be my worse.

Love Buncey, due to his constant ''insider knowledge'', he ALWAYS knows secret stuff/rumours that goes on in camp, yet never discloses it, he ALWAYS has a man on the inside.

No one has mention Glenn 'I sparred 10 rounds with Mike Tyson at the age of 20' McCrory, who for the last 10 years has reminded us, constantly, that at the age of 20, he sparred with Mike Tyson.

bloody hell, they're making PPV money out of Hatton. of course they are going to be on his side.

darke is the best commentator around. he used to get good support from watt and mccory.

now they are just glad to have their jobs with the credit crunch hitting hard, and now they just have to hype up the bull****.

****** used to tell every WBU pile of **** fight exactly how it was: "but maccarinelli's calling himself a world champion".

standard of product has plummeted, and this has dragged the commentatory down. coincidentally, this all happened when sky renewed with FW.

john rawling is alright also, but unfortunately he's been polishing the turds that are frank warren shows for too long that i always take anything he says with a pinch of salt

duke - poor duke. who does no one tell him that you can't say "at this moment in time", never mind "at this present moment in time"? or why don't they correct him when he gets names wrong "Tevana" (Tarver), "Eleveno-oh" (Luevano)?

american commentators are normally a bit too much for me. merchant has gotten too slow in his delivery, too wannabe profound - "a beard is an extension of a will!". lampley goes into information overload, has to compare everything with everything and has always been hyperbolic - comparing j taylor to all time greats cos he can "hook off the jab". kellerman too much fan boy.

that showtime commentator, who commentated for years...can't recall the name. but every time there was a slugging match he'd go on about some kind of robot cartoon or game where robots had fights. rock em sock em or something. while he was supported well by bernstein, i havre to say boby czyz and ferdie pacheco were dreasful.

To go with the spirit of the thread, which commentator has been the biggest nuthugger of a fighter? Pacheco and Foreman were pretty biased when it came to McClellan and Naz respectively in my opinion.

as someone mentioned before, david pleat...

"And drogba bursts through like the french train he is"

Aside from the fact drogba is from the ivory coast, what on earth does that mean ?

Duke is the worst I can't stand even listening to him. I don't understand how bunce is so disliked, guy is top notch imo. Very passionate and tells it exactly as he sees it. Think the boxing hour is quality. Met them both in belfast saturday and exactly the same off the show as on it.

What the **** is Richie Woodhall doing on that list? He's one of the best we've got.

So is Duke McKenzie, often for different Foreman-esque reasons.
"He's gone, Jim!" "His legs have gone!" "I scored that round even, Jim."

We (Brits) have a history of excellent boxing commentators over the years, specifically Reg Gutteridge (mainly ITV, who died recently) and Harry Carpenter (mainly BBC).

Ian Darke is my favourite of the current commentators, he pitches it about right for me between 'man on the street excitement' and boxing anorak analysis.

Glenn Mccrory is a decent enough side kick if a bit of a nodding dog to Darke.

Duke Mckenzie is by far the worst, undisputed, pound for pound, hall of fame. He has NEVER said a single word I've found interesting. He babbles. He gets his words baldly mixed up and confuses metaphors he clearly doesn't understand.
