Yeah Khan did the worst, outboxed Alvarez up until he was knocked out against a guy who weighed over a stone more than him on the night, who was on a performance enhancing drug and to top this all off Khan was trying to put on weight rather than cut to make himself heavy enough for a criminal catchweight with clauses that were tailored for Clen use. Khan did the worst, yeah. My god there's been some drivel on this last page, I thought some of us were doing our best to save this thread and then you get a load of dumb posts about Khan getting KO'd with no thought going into the conditions of the fight and what actually happened during the fight at all.
Khan really only moved up ONE weight division to face Canelo. it was a 155 lbs, just one pound over the 154 weight limit. Alvarez was not known as a puncher at that time, his power has bizzarely come on in later years.. Obviously Khans horrendous glass jaw made Canelo look like Rocky Marciano though!
For 3 rounds who cares! it's meaningless. Alvarez starting timing him in the 4th and 5th, and BANG! a conclusive brutal finish in the 6th, it was a very short night. That highlight reel KO has been laughed at and ridiculed all over the world millions of times, that's all there is to really remember about that night. Khan had the worst finish to all the other Brits against him, it's like you're not you're not even factoring that into your opinion here.
Canelo never looked in trouble against Khan, always knew he was going to wear him down. Saunders was a similar situation but gave Canelo more to think about and was frustrating him.
With honourable mentions to Amir and Hatton, I was hugely impressed with Liam Smith's grit against Alvarez. He was prepared to endure incredibly painful punishment going toe to toe, always believing he could land that one punch to a vital area that could turn the fight.
Khan was brought in by ODLH and Canelo for the fact that they knew he’d give them an emphatic highlight reel YGKTFO.
