Which British fighter will be the next big marquee name?

easy, khan or froch.....but i think khan would have more pull with american fans, seeing that there is a lot of good matchups from 135-147 for khan...

 

Jeffries has the 'potential' to fill Hatton's footsteps and crossover to the mainstream, IMO. He has huge Mackem and North-East support and I'd also consider myself a fan. If he delivers in the ring, I think he'll become British boxing's next darling. It's impossible not to like the bloke:good.

 

Nathan Cleverly, Currently the commonwealth and british lightheavyweight champion he knocked out english light heavyweight champ and is on his way to fight for a european belt. He has very good competition at light heavy and a potential win over Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods or hell even Beibut Shumenov would send him up for a world title against Dawson/Pascal/Campillo/Cloud. Would like to see him have at least 4 or 5 more fights before fighting at top level but still he could be britains next big name and I personally would like to see him one day against the likes of Mikkel Kessler. Maybe Frank Warren should get off his ass and put him in against Jeff Lacy or Roy Jones Jr to get him Stateside recognition. :bbb

 

James Degale for me - sweet skills and impossible to dislike the bloke (not)

 

If Kell Brook looks impressive beating Jennings then there are some big fights for him at welter. And Froch should be, but given tickets are still available and no tv deal sorted i doubt he will ever get exposure he deserves and be a marquee name.

In reality the marquee name (aad by that meaning ave joe in street knowing them) will have to be a heavy, so Haye is the obvoius choice. Tho Fury could at a long shot do something, and of course ultra long shot.................. Audley, cos britain does like a loser and esp a loser come good if he can turn things around!

 

nathan cleverly for me, if he can match durability with the improved skills in every fight, i like to think he could make world level. hes got the tools, i reckon woods would give him rounds, be competative and give him vital experience?

i'm probably wrong, but imo, i think out of the three saunders has the pro potential. just the way i see it degale has shown nothing that makes him stand out, and gavin looks in a struggle with every fight. i cant see degale doing anything and think he will be ko by sutherland down the line. supermiddle will be interesting cos they should all have to fight each other to see who progresses,like a tournament, but they wont. someone posted that they think haye will be next marquee name, that is likely cos even fellows i know who not that into boxing know who haye is, he has the style and general package to be marquee.

Hes got a long way to go yet IMO maybe 3/4 years.

theres no way right now hes beating Tarver or Shumenov.

I agree with you when you said on the General a while back that if he does the business in the ring he could bring Hatton-like support to Vegas if he fought there.
