Which brits do you want to lose and why?

Khan - he is an idiot and talks like an idiot.

 

I generally try and support British fighters, but it's not always easy, and I'm not going to accept some of the nonsense they come out with. Supporting a fighter doesn't automatically mean not criticising them when they make unappealing fights, or talk some absolute ****, or put in a disappointing performance. I genuinely like most British fighters style in the ring; guys like Khan, Froch and Haye are usually quite entertaining.

However, I felt uneasy about supporting Haye when he was up to all his HW promotional antics which I thought were quite disgusting, actually. But I let it go because I thought he would back it up in the ring. Then he "fought" A-Force (a domestic level fighter) and got utterly dominated by Wlad, and since then I see him as a kind of tragic/comic figure who talked utter **** and didn't deliver in the HW division.

Froch - I love his career trajectory, his willingness to get out there, fight the best, prove himself. But he's got a habit of being quite deluded that I find unappealing.

His attitude post-Dirrel was embarrassing, he was pissed off because Dirrell refused to stand in the middle of the ring and let Froch hit him! Froch lost that fight because he couldn't adapt, couldn't close the ring off, was found lacking tactically. Also, I briefly saw something attributed to him about Ward "not really beating" him, I don't know if that's how he feels, but again, there is a certain degree of delusion there.

Khan, good fighter, good career trajectory, entertaining style. But again, somewhat deluded about his capabilities and where he fits in. The guy is a world title level fighter, he isn't, was never, and will never be, an elite like Floyd Mayweather.

Yet, that's the angle he is always repetitively pushing. I find it quite dishonest, and a shame, because he should just be happy and content at the level he's at, whilst obviously trying to improve and develop. There's no shame in not being Floyd Mayweather. Also, that annoying habit he has of always talking about two fights ahead, just makes me less sympathetic when he gets put on his arse.

Generally, there is a culture amongst British fighters that I don't like; fake personas centered on talking trash, generating unwarranted hype and making dodgy excuses when the reality doesn't match the falsely constructed expectations.

What I'd like to see is simply; British fighters with humility, willing to fight the best, not undersell themselves but not oversell themselves either. Fighters able to maximise their success and capabilities, without pretending they are something they are not.

 

I agree with what someone said on the first page. It depends largely on the fight. Bloody hate Khan and enjoy seeing him humbled and humiliated by KO losses but I haven't always felt like that. Was rooting for him after he first won the world title and was made up when he beat Malignaggi and Judah amongst others. Since the Peterson debacle though I've gone right off him.

Cleverly for similar reasons. Didn't really mind him at first. I was rooting for Bellew in their fight obviously but I wasn't like I wanted Nathan to get battered and genuinely wanted to see him fight and beat Hopkins. Just again, what's he said and done since becoming champ has just made him completely unlikeable to me (a lot of it down to his dad and Frank too to be honest).

Not particularly fond of Frampton either because I can't stand McGuigan's bull**** about him. Hate the way they accuse Quigg of ducking him, they've never ever even got into serious negotiations for any fight at all. For a while when Carl was first coming up and was Commonwealth champ they just lived off Scott's name. His win against Kiko was great though, that can't be denied.

One guy who's done the complete opposite (used to hate him, no I've come round and want to see him succeed) is Tyson Fury. Used to hate him because he was a big fat idiot who was over-hyped by Hennessy and Channel 5 when it was so clear he was garbage. The massive improvements he's made though and the funny **** he comes out with have proper made laugh. A real breath of fresh air he's been, whether you think he's funny or not. Just wish he'd stop slagging ALL scousers on his twitter, we don't all hate him.
