Which Calzaghe wins do you think are better than Froch's wins over Pascal & Taylor?

If we're following precedent then he'd probably wait for them to get old.

 

By the time they are old Calzaghe is late 40's.

 

Calzaghe's 'w' over Hopkins is better than anything on Froch's record.

Kessler > Pascal
Taylor > Lacy

 

Excellent post.However,Calzaghe is closing in on 38 and that's usually the age that rich men find it hard to get motivated for another fight.

BUT, arguably a greater point, is lacy suffered a serious shoulder injury which required surgery after calzaghe....

 

Hopkins and Kessler EASILY.

 

Taylor was also coming off 2 defeats and had just made the step up to super middle weight if your looking for excuses for the Lacy fight.
Calzaghe beat an undefeated Lacy but also a grossly overhyped Lacy. He exposed him and his poor record after that fight can't solely be down to the drubbing he recieved.

 

I dissagree with the easily part. Taylor did beat Hopkins twice. They probably were better competition than Pascal and Taylor but not considerably better.

 

WTF? Surely you're not even going to suggest a comparison between the two?

Only Kessler. Taylor won 2 times against B-hop, remember ?

 

Taylor won narrowly two times against Hopkins. He also lost two times more convincingly against Pavlik who was utterly schooled by Hopkins.

You can probably prove anything you like with that lot.

 

Hopkins win is the only one I rate higher than Froch's

even though Hopkins was way past his best he was still competitive entity and Joe scraped through.

Kessler is vastly over rated the only fighter he fought with ambition and some skill was Joe and he lost.

Pascal would have beaten everyone Kessler beat (puts it into perspective). Beating Taylor in his backyard is far more challenging than fighting in your backyard 20+ defences, to do it in your 1st defence without your nations backing on TV all the pressure taking 100 fans ...not an army like JOE+ Hatton is an amazing test of Carls mental strength...I cant thing of many champs who do that. Knowing you have no chance to win a close decision.

Mitchell and Jones Jr for the determination... Hopkins, Kessler and Lacy for the boxing quality and focus.

 

He barely beat Hopkins so he doesnt deserve too much credit.. Same with kessler... What the hell has kessler done prior to facing Calzaghe? not much...

So in short, Calzaghe doesnt have a win like that..
