Hardly nit picking to point out that your assigning people to countries on an entirely arbitrary and inconsistent basis.

Silly me. None of those guys live in Germany I'm guessing? I guess it would also be silly of me to assume they speak German? There couldn't be anyway in the world that they play the German national anthem before their fights either? The German fighters MUST have learned how to box in the countries they were born in, right? What was I thinking?

Yes it should count the US doesnt claim Margarito(even though he was born here) Vasquez,Glen Johnson,Adamek or many other fighters that were raised somewhere else. Only ones that should be considered for being from a certain country are if you were born or raised there. The ons being counted as German dont count.

I apologize. It just occurred to me that knit picking is your specialty. It also occurred to me that people from England, and the fans of their fighters, might feel a bit threatened by Germany having better fighters. Just a theory.

So we're agreeing that the likes of Cotto should be considered 'American' if that is the basis used?

If you tried hard enough you could be German too.

Then what about the fighters who were born in one country and raised in another? Are they from nowhere? Their citizenship means nothing? Are they forever restricted to their birthplace? Does Klitschko live, fight, train or even visit Kazakhstan? At what point in a person's life are they done being raised?

I'd still be in a country that has better fighters than yours.

Id say where ever a person predominatly resided from child hood to young adulthood

A guy like Nonito could be claimed by the US or the Phillipines since he was born there but came here as a child and been here since.

Margarito imo is from Mexico although he was born in the US and resides here he was raised in Tijuana,Mexico

Yep, I wouldn't claim Margarito also if he was Dutch! :D

    But let's see here.
    Heavyweights of the US.

Ruiz, Arreola, Oquendo, Quezada, Estrada etc... etc...
All claimed to be US citicens, and they are! Just like the Germans you mentioned. I also agree that WK shouldn't be on the list because he doesn't have the German nationality, but the others do!

I haven't agreed with **** you've said anywhere in this thread. It's far too petty to even argue over. I wouldn't put all the foreign born fighters residing in America on a list of American fighters in a poll asking which country has the best fighters, it would be overkill. For the purpose of this thread, and for the sake of simplicity, I'm giving each country the benefit of the doubt. There is no doubt whatsoever that any of the 25 fighters I listed are from one of the other 4 countries I listed, so I really don't see what the problem is.

The problem is is that you used one justification to claim Klitschko as German, then the opposite of that to claim Cotto as Puerto Rican. Hence the fact that people are confused. You'd have been better off with 'here's five random lists of fighters, which do you like best?'
