Actually not. For us Germans it doesn't matter where a figher comes from as long as he is friendly, respectful and speaks German. That's why we love the Klitschkos. They are class. :good

Come on now you know that's a lie. He has retained his Armenian citzenship; as far as i'm aware German citzenship doesn't oblige you to renounce any previous ties. Every fight i've seen him in, somebody from his entourage carries both the Armenian & German flags. How is that choosing to be German over Armenian?
In fact in the following article he explicitly refers to himself as Armenian:

    http://www.168.am/en/articles/4932

Note how he also refers to Darchinyan as 'Armenian' - not Australian.
Who knows maybe he was telling the reporter what he wanted to hear; but I have feeling Abraham regards himself as an Armenian - and who are we to speculate as regards his motives?
Gevor has publicly stated that he is Armenian. No dispute there.
However Huck, Sturm & Stieglitz are all clearly German.
Place of birth doesn't necessarily designate nationality - see Sinan Samil Sam.

well a lot of boxers carry two flags into the ring...so they can choose where they're from... some puertorrican boxers grew up in the states but if you ask them they'll tell you they're puertorrican just like some mexican boxers ... Oscar delhoya lives in puerto rico now is married to a puertorrican does that makes him puertorrican

I went with the UK because I like their system of domestic fighting. I think their low-level fighters are by-and-large more skilled/experienced than ours are in the US.

No. Double citizenship in Germany is only possible when you the oher country does not allow you to give up your citizenship - example Iran. Other than that you only can have either German or another citizenship - which actually is quite a problem for he Turkish community in Germany because you can't inheri property in Turkey without a Turkish citizenship. Many turkish Germans just don't have German citizenship due o that.
He chose to be German over Armenian by chosing German ciizenship over he Armenian one. That doesn't mean he is no Armenian no more. Of course he is. I never stated otherwise. I have no problem when Armenians claim him for themselves and are proud of him. What I have a problem is when people go on and talk as if Abraham is no German. Because that's just wrong.

Of course he does. He IS Armenian. And he also is German. Most people just don' get that this is possible.

That's why he took on German citizenship, bought a house here, and has wife and children here. :good

True. But Sturm actually is born in Germany too.

you cant bull **** me im familiar with all these guys, Now id like you to tell me which fighters on my list are not World class, and i will explain to you why they are. ALso there are 3 or 4 fighters that i could add to the Mexican list so make that 32 world class fighters from Mexico.

I cant believe you tried to add Americans like Ruiz and Collazo to the list when you know damn well i left out quite a few Mexican Americans on the Mexican list. Ok PR has 10 and i was being nice on a couple of them

Would you say that the Brahmer/Erdei incedent and them pushing Erdie out of the picture so the German Brahmer could have the belt kind of showed that if they had a choice in the matter they'd obviously prefer a German?

btw I'm not criticizing that desire at all, it's natural in my eyes. (rooting for your own that is, i don't like the way they seemingly nudged Erdei out of the LHW picture)

If you are talking about David Lopez well those wins were early in his career, and he has turned it around with big wins and has not lost in quite a while, in fact he has been ranked high in Ring Magazine for the last couple of years, He is a legit top contender and in his last fight he headlined Friday night fights, id like you to point out which guys on my list that you dont think are World class. I also forgot to add former champ Omar Nino (ranked 7th by ring magazine) Julio Cesar Miranda(ranked 10th by the Ring) Martin Honorio(ranked 7th by the ring) Rolando Reyes (ranked 3rd by the Ring).

Well, the plan was for Erdei to unify and then drop he WBO belt for Brähmer. Didn't work out because nobody wanted to unify - aside of Dawson Erdei would beat every other beltholder IMO. They still went through with the plan but instead another title they gave Erdei the big fight he wanted all the time.
Brähmer is more marketable than Erdei. Zsolt is a nice guy but has no personality. Brähmer is dumb as **** and not a nice person but he has some personality, can knock out people and fights more spectacular. I don't think this has much to do with prefering German. Everybody I tell about what happened absolutly loathe what Universum did. I hope either Universum get's on track or vanishes.

I'm afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree.
As far as i'm concerned acquiring citzenship for economic reasons, or to aid a lifestyle choice only makes you a citizen of the adopted country. It does not alter your national identity imo.
    Madonna is not British.
    Terry Gilliam is not British.
    Anna Kournikova is not American.
I could name countless other examples.
An individual should have the final say on what they deem their own nationality.
Middleweight Matthew Macklin was born in England. He has British citizenship. However he has stated on several occasions that he regards himself as Irish.
Sinan Samil Sam was born in Germany. But chooses to represent Turkey.
If Arthur Abraham chooses to refer to himself as 'Armenian' than that's what he is. An Armenian with German citizenship.
I except that in certain cases individual's of mixed heritage regard themselves as both - Joe Calzaghe stated allegiance to Wales & Italy.
But as aforementioned acquiring citizenship for financial/lifestyle purposes doesn't alter an individual's national identity.
