He has got a point about the fact he never travels though. Certainly doesn't make him a paper titlist though. Had a great career.

Any belt holder that isn't the recognised number 1 in a division is a paper champion imo.

paper titlists are those who are regular, interim and diamond belt holders etc.

For example cotto and ward are divisional champions but Golovkin and Froch are deserving titlists.

And yet you somehow fail to mention Jacobs whose WBA "regular" title is exactly the same thing Chagaev has at HW. Another thing is that Golovkin is the WBA "super" champ now since defeating #2 middleweight in the world and Jacobs getting awarded that minor WBA belt which is a typical paper title.

Not sure what your pattern is, but calling the best middleweight in the world a "paper titlist" is hardly going to work. Unfortunately for you, Golovkin is more recognized than any other middleweight in the world. Even in the US, he is simply announced as the middleweight champion of the world (while lineal champ Cotto is called the "WBC champ" for example).

Golovkin was blatantly ducked by N'Jikam and Strum many times when they held titles which is why he had to take that route. Even since he's held that title no fellow belt holder has been eager to face him, so I don't think the weak defences can be blamed on GGG.
