From today and counting forward, who will hold on to his title for longest? :think

It is clearly out of Jon Jones and Benson Henderson.

After seeing how Benson disposed of Nate Diaz, I gave him the nod.

Mainly because there is a chance that Anderson Silva might yet fight Jon Jones, and I give Jimi Manuwa a real puncher's chance against Jones.

Unless Jones vacates the LHW division I really don't see anyone, even on the distant horizon, that beats him at that weight (or coming up from MW)

Agreed, but the flip side is that the bigger men are more susceptible to one-punch (or kick) defeats.

Also, before the fight nobody saw Vitor as even being competitive. But how close was he to dethroning Jones with that armbar? About as close as you could possibly get. :good

I voted Jones too, but I am starting to wonder if Benson is settling in for a long reign. :think

Two ways of looking at that armbar. I almost think it makes me think Jones is even harder to beat. He got caught in a deep armbar early in a fight and his arm was totally ****ed up and he never even thought about tapping. He then went on to dominate Vitor with one arm. Yes he can get caught, every fighter can, but he showed his heart and determination to get the W no matter what.

    I agree with you. :good

Some guys are frontrunners. Mike Tyson is a legend, but I can only think of one fight that he was losing, and then pulled it out. (Botha, with one punch.) I reckon there were a few LHWs who saw Jones fight through that armbar, and though "ah, ****. He's actually genuinely tough as hell."

But even so, some submissions, he gets caught and that's it. He's going to sleep, or he's getting his arm broken and that's the end of the fight. :conf

Still, as you say, that applies to anybody. But even though we now know that Jones has tremendous heart and determination, we haven't even seen him wobbled from a strike, let alone really hurt. But who is going to land that shot on him, except by fluke? You can't have confidence in picking anybody to **** him up before he brutalizes them into survival mode. I guess that's why he's running away with the poll.

the lighter the weight the rarer a long reign is. the little guys are too dynamic. theres much more room for surpise when the fighters are so much more active

I want to say Aldo but there is a possibility that he will move up to LW and then there is also the Edgar fight that i think he will pull through and get the W.
What will happen to the HW division if JDS defeats Overeem and Cormier he already took Cain out in 1 minute

Johnson hasn't even defended his title yet. There's a lot of talent amongst the little guys, and there'll inevitably be a rubber match with Ian McCall.

Barao is a beast, but BW is deceptively stacked and Cruz will be coming back for his belt eventually.

Aldo looks like he'll be moving up to LW sooner rather than later.

I'd like Bendo to keep the belt for a while, but 155 is stacked as hell, and his fights with Edgar were stupidly close. Pettis has already beaten him, and there's a bunch of other guys that can make a fight of it.

GSP is pretty secure, but he is now 31 and I have my doubts about his longevity. If he get injured again in the next year or so I can honestly see him packing it all in.

Anderson will retire sooner rather than later. He's sniffing 40 and for all the **** about superfights and 10 fight deals and whatever else, I don't think he'll be fighting much longer.

Jones will be champion for as long as he wants. He'll be moving up to HW, it's just a matter of time. The longer his move up gets delayed, the more unstoppable he's going to look. He can pretty much make himself look like Anderson does now at MW, and make LHW look like a complete void of talent, and he can do that before he turns 30.

JDS... love to see him have a long run, but there's some seriously interesting fights out there for him. I'd love to see what he can do against Cormier, and I get the feeling the second Cain fight is gonna be a lot more competitive that the first time round.

If Silva doesnt retire, I see him undefeated for at least 5 more years. The person that would beat him is still a teenager I think.
