80's for me, Tyson was the only reason I started watching boxing, which then lead to Hagler, Leonard, etc. You just had to be there to appreciate the phenomenon Tyson was at the time.
I picked 80's, but 90's were deep too, and 90's spilling over to the first couple years of 2000's. With fighters like Chavez Whitaker De La Hoya Trinidad Mosley Jones Jr. Holyfield Toney Lewis Morales Barrera Hamed Finito Mayweather Hopkins Today's era sucks so much that you have fighters from the 90's still competing at top levels even though, they are old, slower, and not as good.
has 2000s got so few votes because pac and may have not fought each other? if they fought each other in epic fights, how much will that change things? in the other eras, the best fought the best.
You should switched Duran and Holmes , Durans prime in the 70s and Holmes in the early 80s. Should have also put ODLH in for the 90s PFP I rank him alot higher than Lewis. Ill have to sit down and analyze this list more but the ones that stand out most are 40s,70s,80s
You represented the 60's with nothing but heavyweights? Emile Griffith...Joey Archer, Bob Foster, Nino Benvenuti, Morocho Hernandez, Mantequilla Napoles, Bobo Olson, Niccolino Locche, Feo Rodridguez, Eder Jofe, Dick Tiger, Pone Kingpetch... ...and you list Floyd, Ingo, and Sonny as the "best elite fighters"?? :rofl
I know that came off as wicked snobby, but FFS, such a talent rich decade and encapsulated by three heavyweights - granted, fine heavyweights, up there all-time in their division - but the p4p best names of the era, or even just exemplary of the p4p best, no representation from other weights? :-(
