Which do you consider to be the greatest British victory of the fights listed below

Ken Buchanan beating Ismael Laguna over 15 rounds in 1970

John H Stracy's 6th round stoppage of Jose Napoles in 1975
Barry McGuigan beating Eusebio Pedroza over 15 rounds in 1985
Lloyd Honeyghan stopping Donald Curry in 6 rounds in 1986
Nigel Benn's 10th round knockout of Gerald McClellan in 1995
Ricky Hatton's 11th round stoppage of Kostya Tzsyu in 2005

Pick the one you consider number one and place the other five runner ups in order, brief explantion of reasons why, would be good too.

    1) Honey-Curry.

Goes to America and rips that title from the P4P number 2 at the time.

    2) Stracy-Napoles.

Another away from home victory after surviving a 1st round KD

    3) Ken B - Laguna

Yet another away....great win could be maybe #2

    4) Benn - McClellan

What to say about this fight? G-Man maybe overated but still a great win.

    5) and 6) Hard to split these 2 as they are very similar. A very good old champ loses on workrate to the younger guy he would have beat in his prime.. I could also see these 2 wins being above Benns depending on how you look at wins over Zoo and Pedroza.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Strange that you have the Napoles win so high when I'd consider him more over the hill than Pedroza & Tzsyu at that point.

The fight was in Mexico City not Manchester....;-)

(IIRC Stracey was a bigger betting outsider than either McGuigan or Hatton...for whats thats worth!)

I get that but, I can't see how you can say

"Hard to split these 2 as they are very similar. A very good old champ loses on workrate to the younger guy he would have beat in his prime.." and not include Napoles.

They were both home wins. Stracey went to Mexico City to beat Napoles.

I've only ranked it 3 places higher FFS!!;-)

Ok just think Napoles falls into "A very good old champ loses on workrate to the younger guy he would have beat in his prime" categrory.

Think he's more looking at guys defying odds being underdogs clear ones and winning. Lewis had many great wins but rarely was he a underdog in situation these guys were in.

Napoles does fit in that category but Stracy won in Napoles adopted hometown. Thats the difference for me inbetween that win and Hattons or Barrys.

Holyfield was way over the hill and Tyson it was 16 years since Mike first won the title, he was a shell by that time, name any fighter that was stilll near his best 16 years after winning his first title.
