I wrote that I like the both equally and I'm not sure that's true. I appreciate boxing far more than I enjoy it these days because of the politics. I tune in for big fights, if a decent boxer emerges I'll usually check them out after they already establish themselves these days where before I would be interested in ANY boxing match. Well with all the record padding or carefully matched opponents, it got old. Now I just wait for superfights. I enjoy those just as much as a really good MMA card. If I can watch guys like Marquez, Mayweather, Pac, Cotto then I'm happy and very much entertained. It's just that there are tons of interesting matchups in MMA. I tend to be the type that is interested in ALL kinds of combat sports and even non sports.
I love both, but boxing is my number 1 sport above all others. I ****ing hate boxing fans slagging off MMA though, it's also an incredible sport.
Mixed Martial Arts. I've been a fan of Martial Arts in general, before I fell in love with Boxing. Mixed Martial Artist are the most complete, and honorable of combat athletes.. And when they compete it's a thing of beauty.. Unbelievable comebacks, 7 second KOs, joint locks, etc.
MMA is the sweeter science, and a better depiction of what all Martial Arts teach, which is survival. Seeing the sport evolve, rise, and build character in these competitors is truly moving.. I speak for many when I say the introduction of MMA in North America was one of the greatest things to ever happen to me.
I like them both. There's nothing more fun than watching a weekend filled with boxing events and MMA all weekend long. It's double the fun of just watching one.
When this subject gets discussed among friends i always reply the same thing : When there are 2 elite boxer's fighting each other , MMA doesn't compare , but with MMA we get better fights way more often than we do in boxing Without going into insane detail , thats where i stand
I put equally. I love boxing and I love a big fight but all I see is boxing killing itself and MMA thriving.
Every single word corresponds with my thoughts. MMA is my current combat fix, but classic boxing my primary passion and interest.
Well put. Nothing beats a Hagler/Hearns, Leonard/Duran matchups. You shake with anticipation. The problem is fighting the best is no longer done in boxing. Theres also a culture of built in excuses in every fight, so and so is 2 years older, Pacs prime was between Jan thru November. Its all God damn fantasy fights and they never ever meet at the height of their powers anymore. I mean this JDS vs. Overeem fight, when did boxing have this kind of fight since Marquez vs. Pac 1?
Boxing only has itself to blame for creating the opening that MMA has grasped with both hands. Dana White could teach the various boxing organisations a thing or two about putting on a show.
