I take it you didn't see the first Ali/Liston bout, one of the best performances of all time.

I have no issue with the Douglas bout. I was just pointing out the irony. But it's clearly not solid evidence that Ali would beat Tyson since Mike was blatantly out of form.

So an out of form Tyson gets knocked the fcuk out by a journeyman and Ali very nearly beats an ATG who hit like a truck in his first loss.

i never meant you as a person, just this thread. Maybe respect was the wrong word as i didnt mean to upset you.

How do you KNOW he was the better fighter? What do you base this on? You have an opinion, as do us all, but, for the sake of argument, if you ask 10 posters on here whose opinion and knowledge on boxing you respect the most, id bet a pound to a penny at least 8 or 9 wouldnt agree with you. But you ARE entitled to your opinion

its a 10 count, not a 10 second count. Nothing wrong with it. Tyson got the same standard of count

How can you say Ali beat Liston fair and square and then still insist Tyson won against better competition?

One was a teeneger going into his 20's fighting grown EXPERIENCED guys....the other outmatched his opposition bc they didnt have mobility and lacked polish and mostly undersized and past prime BEST guys ALI fought? One literally decimated an era the other had questionable wins.........

Tyson and by a large margin! :eeeeek:

Tyson was more physically developed at 20 than Ali was at 22, Ali would have won the title at 20 had he fought someone of the calibre of Trevor Berbick and that's a fact.

This is why Liston should've been allowed to continue. You get it?

Tyson won the comparable to Ali title when he beat Spinks not before. None of the fighters Tyson beat prior to Spinks were the true hwt champion.

Ali when he beat Liston the first time beat the true and only worlds hwt champion.

Beating the undisputed worlds hwt champion in Liston trumps by a large margin anything Tyson ever did in his entire career. Tysons only comparable win was beating Spinks.

Ali by far any away was the better and greater fighter as compared to Tyson. Tysons issues were between his ears while Ali had the heart, will to win at all costs of an ATG fighter. Give Tyson Joe Frazier heart and will to win and then we will talk. However Tyson did not have and did not show Frazier level of heart, will to win and determination.
