Which event was more ridiculous? Ali vs Inoki or Foreman vs 5 men?

Galento & others fought some bears back in the olden days.
The winner took on a kangaroo.

Can't you see Promoter Oscar De La Hoya talking up a Canelo fight
at a venue out in LA, vs a bear?

Foreman vs 5 men wasn't that ridiculous. I always thought it was actually really impressive.

It was suppose to have been a suped-up sparring session against Class B fighters to demonstrate Foreman's fighting stamina post Zaire, but then Ali shows up and starts yelling "Go to the ropes" over and over, and the whole thing turns into a circus.

It was Howard Cosell's fault, really. He mocked George and made it sound like it was more of a fiasco than it was. He would do anything for his beloved Ali, and this is an example of that.

In defence of both Cosell and Ali, Foreman was portrayed as nothing more than a robotic fool by Ali himself both before and after the fight. He actually did a pretty good impersonation of a slow moving idiot with one foot nailed to the floor and claimed it was Foreman. I think Zaire proved him right.

Real punches were thrown in the Foreman vs Five, but the Ali vs the wrestler thing was completely fixed, obviously. So, we know for a fact that Ali was in at least one fixed fight. There were probably others. More than probably. Time to escape from the matrix and face reality.

Hey, Ali was a charismatic dude. He could certainly influence people.

Not exactly Hook, Inoki by the rules Ali insisted on was basically handcuffed, he could do almost nothing and all Ali had to do was reach the ropes to have any attack stopped. Due to this Inoki decided to stay on the matt and kick Ali's legs which resulted in several blood clots, they were hard but it was all he was allowed to do.

Good points, Timmers, but if Inoki was basically handcuffed, then the fight was basically fixed, in my opinion. It was prearranged so that Inoki couldn't win.

In a real boxer vs wrestler bout, someone like Andre The Giant would have launched a gloved Ali into the crowd....as shown in various boxing movies. Probably some of those high flying Mexican Wrestlers like El Santo, El Enmascarado De Plata, would have taken care of Ali too.

Ali vs Inoki was one of the most ridiculous and purposeless events i've ever seen... It is very sad to see a champion like Ali in a circus act like that ....

That was a patented part of Cosell's act to object to some part of the event as being farcical.

Nothing...even the Foreman 5 man circus would be as ridiculous as the farce known as Ali-Inoki.
