Which event was more ridiculous? Ali vs Inoki or Foreman vs 5 men?

That it was not pre planned was the reason it was so bad.

    Both were as equally ridiculous.

The Ali-Inoki one was more harmful. Ali picked up nasty leg injuries.

The more ridiculous event was Foreman vs five. With Ali constantly taunting from ringside it was a surreal event. Most felt going in the Ali vs wrestler thing was going to be faked aka pro wrestling. It wasn't but might as well have.

True. The leg injuries were so serious that Ali almost had to amputate one leg....

Clay vs Inoki was silly, but I feel like there were a lot of crossover exhibitions in that era

And don't forget Mike Tyson did WWF for a while when he was suspended

No he didn't and no they weren't.

Less than three months later, he defended the title against Ken Norton.

A guy who was close to getting his LEG AMPUTATED wouldn't have been able to start training camp 20 days later.

The British Prizefighter tournaments are equally ridiculous with pro fighters engaging in a 3-round amateur tournament and those results counting as if they were real pro fights.

Ali legs were heavily damaged due to all the kicks. The stories from that time was that Ali had blood clots in his legs from that punishment. I never heard anything of potential amputation. Can't believe that's true in any way.

That is what I have heard as well.

I still cannot believe Ali and his management did not sort this out pre match. They seemed happy enough to let Gorilla Monsoon airplane spin Ali as pre publicity, but wanted a non predetermined match...

Strange, it could of have been some of the easiest money Ali made. Instead the damage to his legs did not help his career thereafter.

He probably had no injuries at all. It was a hoax and a ripoff. So much of what we are told are lies, and not just about sports.

Ali thought it was a work, Bob Arum set it up so what could go wrong?
