Haney couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag. You’ve never seen him fight, his size means nothing. You have not been following boxing that long if you think you can look at someone’s physique and tell anything about their punching power.

It’s going to be interesting to see the reactions after the Haney-Loma fight, Loma is likely going to be shutting out Haney despite being past his best. The belief that Haney is elite around here has me looking forward to it more now. Haney isn’t unpredictable or powerful, and if Loma isn’t injured then it’s a straightforward win for him. Is the idea that Haney can hang with Loma in the skills department? That’s completely delusional. Loma will be showing Haney tricks he’s never seen before.

loma needs to close distance in order to beat you, because of his stubby arms. he uses fast footwork to put himself in position to beat your guard. constantly probing for weak spots. this is harder to do when the man is bigger than you, because he can cover more ground, which means you have to also in order to get position. you need equally fast legs to take a half step back or pivot with loma. and you need to meet his advances with a jab or a straight dominant hand. thats why teo gave him trouble. haney has fast legs, is bigger, has a young mans fuel tank, and has a great jab. this is not going to be easy for loma, imo.

It's hard to compete at the very highest levels of pro boxing when you have short arms, are not particularly physically strong, fast and you don't punch hard. I've been saying it for years now about Loma, yes years. This is world level pro boxing. It's not shadow boxing in front of your mirror. At the highest level there are genetic freaks.

yes, at elite levels, its freaks. loma brought a new puzzle to boxing, and he worked his ass off to perfect his style, which allowed him to dominate guys his size. but there are ways to neutralize his style, by another freak, especially if he is bigger.

I agree. Take me for example, you could train me from the moment I was born to become a great ATG fighter, but no amount of skill and technique could make me a great fighter. Because I wasn't born with genetic advantages for boxing. That's the boat Loma is in. His father decided to make him a great fighter from birth. But he's a short armed man without freakish speed, power, strength, workrate, etc. You either have it or you don't.

same. takes a lot to compete at such levels. we joke about khans chin, but its still sturdier than most people here. or paulies punching power, who would still one punch ko those same people.

What separates Loma from Usyk? Why is Usyk a much better fighter than his fellow Ukrainian. It's not skill. It's that Usyk is a genetic freak and Loma is not. How many Cruiserweights/Heavyweights can move like Uysk? He moves like a Middleweight. You can't teach that.

i was a big doubter of usyk, never gave him his due. but hes earned my respect and admiration with how hes done his thing. he turned out to be my best argument against bigger is always better. who says the greats of the past who were usyks size couldnt compete against the mastodons of today?

When you're 220 pounds and you are fast as he is, that's a problem in the HW division, even if hes giving up some size.
