So many close fights to argue about, but a robbery is something different. So many fighters been robbed. None more than the drunken master, but those weren’t at the higher levels. Mauricio Herrera was robbed vs Danny Garcia. Horrible in my opinion. However, Herrera was gifted against Provodnikov. And that wasn’t Provodnikov’s only robbery. He was robbed against Herrera, Bradley, AND Algieri. Making him one of the most robbed mu****as in recent times. Pac was horribly robbed vs bradly. Johnny tapia vs Paulie Ayala, both fights, but especially the second were horrible decisions. Just a few of the many that stuck out in my mind.
Or because it could go either and you may lose? Close fight. Haney hit Loma a lot with clean body shots.
How could I forget to mention Maloney vs Franco. Only busted his eye with 50 ****n jabs. Absolute load of horse ****.
I woulda bet haney, thought hed be too big and win like 8-4. Had loma 7-5. Haney whining was because loma figured him out and he was frustrated and losing. What kinda strategic advice did bill give? crap. I could careless about either fighter. I just like to see fighters earn a decision and not be handed to them. Then they dont learn anything.
Holyfield was also robbed at the Olympics. Ironically in his home country. In 1984 at Los Angeles, Holyfield completely outboxed Kiwi Kevin Barry (later to coach Joesph Parker) in the semi final, only to be disqualified by the referee in controversial circumstances for hitting after the break.
the olympics are so corrupt. They should just get rid of it really not sure which was more corrupt, the roy jones decision or shane mosely oscar de la hoya situation.
not even just decisions though. If they dont want you in they will literally flat out tell you like shane mosely dlh. They flatout told shane, oscar is going at this weight. You need to move up in weight if you want to have a chance to make it.
James Toney vs Dave Tiberi. Decision was so bad that it triggered a government enquiry. Tiberi was so appalled that he never boxed again. The subsequent Senate document “Corruption in Professional Boxing. 1993” is a very worthwhile read for any boxing fan. Not that anything has really changed. Boxing is still just as corrupt as it ever was.
