Personally, I think Cotto/Canelo does about 1.5M buys and Mayweather/Cotto II does about 1.2M. What do you guys think? There are rumors circulating that Mayweather and Haymon are trying to negotiate a Mayweather/Cotto rematch at a 154.5/155lb catch-weight for 5/2. How much of a demand is there for that fight versus a Cotto/Canelo one?

Canelo/Cotto due to the rivalry that their countries have with each other.

Not only did the fight between Floyd and Cotto only do one million, this time around people have wised up to Floyd's antics and will just boycott it due to it being another rematch.

I agree with you guys but this friend of mine was swearing that Mayweather/Cotto II is a bigger fight.

I think cotto/canelo would do really good numbers.

Floyd/cotto for the MW strap? would probably do as well as cotto/canelo.

    With boxing fans Cotto-Canelo would outsell a Mayweather-Cotto fight 3 to 1.
The reality though is that White America and Black casual fans could'nt care less about a Cotto vs Canelo fight.

I have no doubt in my mind Mayweather-Cotto would outsell the Canelo fight.

My guess is that Canelo-Cotto does about 800K, while May-Cotto does between 1.2 and 1.4 million.

I think they both do far less than people like to believe. I have no interest in either of those fights, personally.

Only? You speak as though doing 1 mil ppv buys is the norm. Do boxing ppv average a higher buy rate or something? 2 mil? 3 mil?

And a cotto/canelo fight would definitely gross more. People know what to expect from a cotto/Floyd fight.

For a fighter of Floyd's popularity it's not exactly mega numbers.

Well in your honest opinion what numbers should a superstar like Floyd be doing per ppv?

Nigh-on 2 mill per fight. Besides this Showtime contract he was fighting once a year/18 months. The demand was there, surely?

Surely. And if you feel that way you must agree that Floyd is the biggest sports athlete in the world?
