Which fight happens first: Ward-Kovalev or GGG-Canelo/Cotto winner?

I don't think I'm overrating him at all.

I would absolutely favor him against anyone currently competing at middleweight. I'm not saying no one at middleweight can beat him - but I haven't seen enough from anyone else that indicates that's likely to me.

I also maintain, however, that Canelo is almost certainly not the man to do so.

Canelo brings nothing to the table that's superior to anything Golovkin has, and that goes for better technique, superior stamina, better control of range, more consistent pacing, better overall output, superior punching variety, better defense, faster hands, better footwork, greater durability, quicker feet, better at setting traps, superior jab, more determination, and a much higher ring IQ.

All of that before we even delve into the vast power discrepancy.

Could I be wrong about GGG? But of course I can!

In this instance, however, I think my views reflect the large majority of fans. Ergo, I do not believe for one second that I am overrating him - especially with regards to a potential showdown with Canelo which I see being a far bigger mismatch than what he had with Lemieux.

I disagree. I'm definitely not seeing that.

But even if what you say is true, Canelo's punch out definitely leaves something to be desired and he only seems explosive in spurts with large lulls in between - so even if I agreed with you (which I honestly don't), I think that is offset by the facts that he has (A) regularly showed evidence of getting winded and needing a breather, and (B) is only explosive in spurts.

I might be willing to agree that Canelo is more apt to shoot off more punches once he begins a flurry with greater regularity, and that he might fire them off more quickly when throwing in bunches - but to me, that in no way, shape, or form makes him a "better" combination puncher.

I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that GGG is more efficient at delivering effective combinations, even if he is more deliberate in his output and, more importantly, his timing and placement.
