Gatti vs Ward was more action packed and more two sided. Taylor vs Chavez was of greater importance to the boxing world

Nothing surpasses round 9 of Ward-Gatti 1, but on the whole Chavez-Taylor was more riveting and showed more.

Chavez Taylor and the skill disparity between the two fights doesn’t even make it close.

Well Chavez vs Taylor was a more important fight, and is definitely a more skillful fight. But Ward vs Gatti 1 was alot more exciting and had more two way competitive action.

Put it this way if I had a choice, I'd rather watch Ward vs Gatti 1. Plus the ending of Chavez vs Taylor annoys me as I'm a fan of Meldrick Taylor.

Are we comparing a bar brawl with a world-class professional boxing match?

The level of the fighters is what made chavez Taylor so great. Chavez had not been tested like that before. I remember Taylor landing on the inside and making it a fight, and not many guys could make it a fight with Chavez really at that time.. This was the first time he fought someone at his level.

Round 10 of Chavez Taylor was every bit as action packed as Gatti/Ward round 9. Just a higher level of boxing. I don't think I've seen many rounds better than that one.

I don’t see much to enjoy watching Ward or Gatti. It’s just barbarism, Chavez vs Taylor was scientific barbarism.

If GattiWard I is a "bar brawl", then you must hate the majority of classic boxing matches then.

Gato-Ward 1 is close to the best fight I’ve ever seen taking all hipster bias away. Just an epic brawl with some skills as well despite whatever people reckon.

Chavez- Taylor was great and they were both great fighters but it didn’t come close to replicating the Gatti-Ward balls to the wall action.

    Very different fights.

The stakes and level was much higher for Chavez-Taylor. The ending was unforgettable and endlessly controversial.

Gatti-Ward was a balls-to-the-wall brawl with nothing at stake except pride. As Larry Merchant memorably said, they were ‘fighting for the championship of each other’. Round 9 was one for the ages regardless of the status of the fight in comparison to Chavez-Taylor.

I chose Chavez-Taylor but Gatti-Ward will live long in the annuals of the sport.

Chavez-Taylor was fought on a much higher plain skill wise

Gatti-Ward ! was kind of a glorified club fight.

For two way action Gatti-Ward is more exciting.

For significance and drama, Chavez-Taylor is better
